World of Warcraft as a game is about
many things; raiding, PvP, earning reputation, and occasionally
/headdesking over that one pug who obviously has no clue what they
are doing. The game, much like real life, is about making cold hard
cash. Gold is what makes the game we love go around and without it
our characters would be pretty much stuck, unable to purchase from
the Auction House or to even repair their gear.

Earning gold in World of Warcraft isn't always
an easy task, in fact sometimes it can be downright
frustrating, especially for new players. Below you will find five addons

Top 5 Gold-Making Addons for New Players

Auctionator

There are a lot of things in World of
Warcraft that Blizzard got right. The standard Auction House user
interface however leaves a lot to be desired. Clunky and a bit
difficult to navigate, many new Auction House users find themselves
overwhelmed with the whole process. While there are many great
similar addons out there designed to refine this UI, Auctionator is
one of my personal favorites. Auctionator replaces the standard
Auction House UI with something that is far more useful and
functional. This ease of use and functionality make using the Auction
House to earn some extra gold easier than ever before.

Gatherer

One of the best ways to make money in
World of Warcraft is to collect herbs and ore. These items can then
be sold as is or used to create more finished (and usually more
expensive) products for the player to peddle. Unfortunately without
an addon, the Blizzard UI only shows you where ore and herbs are when
you get near them, not where they potentially could be.

Gatherer is a simple addon that
remembers the locations of all the ore or herbs that you have ever
collected. With this in place you can easily check out your map or
mini map and see the potential locations of these nodes. With this
knowledge in hand you can easily create farming “paths” that
allow you to collect tons of herbs or ore in the shortest amount of
time possible.

Postal

So you've become an Auction House guru
and you are raking in tons of cash all of which is showing up in the
form of mail in your mailbox. Not to mention the expired auctions and
other Auction House related mail flowing in. With so much mail coming
in it can become quite a task to sit down and open it all, especially
when it has to be done one by one.

Postal alleviates the monotony of one
by one e-mail opening by allowing the player to open as many e-mails
as they wish with just a click. Players may also choose to open only
a certain type of mail, such as all AH success mail, getting that
gold into your pocket a little quicker. Postal also offers a summary
of money gained from opening mail, giving you a good indicator of how
much money you are raking in via the Auction House.

Accountant

Before we can start earning gold we
must first understand where our gold is being spent. Accountant is
the perfect addon for this. Accountant can easily show you how much
your shopping spree at the Auction House cost you, what you spend on
traveling costs, and how much it costs to repair your gear after
wiping 50 times on that boss that your guild just can't seem to kill.
Accountant will also show you how much gold you have earned and where
that gold is coming from. You may sort your expenditures and income
by overall, monthly, weekly, and daily, easily allowing you to keep a
good eye on your gold.

Scrap

While there is tons of money to be
earned using the Auction House, a fair chunk of change can be gained
by simply selling the junk you collect while exploring the world.
Sure it might seem easier to just leave those gray items on the mob
you just killed, but trust me, some of that crap sells for some
decent cash. However, digging through your bags to find it all can
make this extra gold seem not worth it. Ease the process with Scrap,
which allows you to easily and effectively sell your junk items. You
may not get rich selling trash, but it will definitely put some extra
spending money in your pocket.
