Top 5 Mists of Pandaria Easter Eggs  Runner Up Edition
The Singing Pools
While venturing through the Pandaren starting zone you will come across the Singing Pools. These magical pools have the ability to turn any player who steps into them into various animals, at least until they leave the pool. While these pools are entertaining all on their own, they are also an Easter egg. The reference here is to the Cursed Pools of Jusenkyo, that can be found in the classic anime Ranma ½. Anime fans feel free to squee at any time.
One of my personal favorite Easter eggs lies in a lonely turtle named Lon'li Guju. Lon'li Guju is most likely a memento to the world famous Pinta Island tortoise known as Lonseome George. Now deceased, Lonsome George was the last known individual of his subspecies. Many attempts were made at mating George, but none were successful and ultimatly George died without a mate. This Easter egg tribute really pulls at the heartstrings. Lon'li Guju can be found flying (alone) around the northern part of the Kun-Lai Summit.
Have you ever wanted to be wtfpwned by a large frog hell bent on defending his smaller brethren? If the answer is yes, you must travel to the Krasarang Wilds where you can fulfill your fantasy. On an nondescript island west of the Cradle of Chi-Ji, you will find signs splayed with the image of a frog. Near the center of the island you will find, as expected, frogs....lots and lots of frogs. These critters gather in large groups and have a high respawn rate, making them tempting targets for players wishing to complete the ÂCritter Kill Squad achievement. However, be warned, killing these frogs does not come without consequence. After a large number are slaughtered a large frog named Cro'akan will appear and deal out Frog Justice, an attack that will instantly kill any player.
The Heart Keeper
If you were a child of the 90's you without a doubt know who Captain Planet is. If you don't, well, you are missing out. In a small cave near the Temple of Niazuo, a semi-rare elite mob can be found named Huggalon. This mob is known as the Heart Keeper, one of forces used by the Planeteers to defend the earth, and when combined with the other elements, to summon Captain Planet. Huggalon is simply a completion to the set, and the Easter egg, as the other elements (Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind) can be found inside the Vault of Archavon. Captain Planet...he's our hero....going to take pollution down to zero...
Sam the Wise
If you have read my first article, or have already completed the ÂRestore Balance achievement you have already Shrine of Fellowship. Heading back to this location another in game Easter egg can be found in the form of an NPC named Sam the Wise, the Metal Brewmaster. Sam can be found inside the only building near the Shrine and is most likely a reference to Samwise Didier, an artist at Blizzard and creator of the Pandaren. To add more depth to the Easter egg, Samwise is, as you know, found at the Shrine of Fellowship, which is a direct nod to the source of Sam's nickname; Samwise Gamgee from the Lord of the Rings.
Have you discovered any Easter eggs while roaming the Mists of Pandaria expansion pack that are not mentioned in either of our top 5 articles? If so, feel free to share them with us in the comment section below!
