Order of the Cloud Serpent Faction Overview

The Order of the Cloud Serpent is one of the new reputations (and possibly one of the most exciting) added in Mists of Pandaria. The Order of the Cloud Serpent was formed long ago, during the Zandalari wars. These noble and proud flying warriors take to the air using the majestic Cloud Serpents. The warriors from this faction have decided that they will reveal the knowledge of how to tame the Cloud Serpents to others, as long as they can prove their worth first.

Earning Reputation with the Order of the Cloud Serpent

Taking a page out of the book of the Wintersaber/Vanomsaur quest line, earning reputation with the Order of the Cloud Serpent will require the player to raise their very own Cloud Serpent. You will be required to nurture the Cloud Serpent from the egg until it reaches maturity, completing quests along the way that will help it grow. You will also encounter quests similar to the Netherwing quest line that will require you to test out your racing skills, profession-related dailies, and gather eggs that are concealed around the island that can be turned in for additional reputation.

Starting the Order of the Cloud Serpent Quest Line

Beginning the journey to start earning reputation with the Order of the Cloud Serpent can be accessed only by players who have installed the Mists of Pandaria expansion and who have also reached the level cap of 90. If you meet these requirements you will need to head to the Arboretum and speak with Elder Anli the Serpent Master.

Elder Anli will send you onward to Windless Isle, located to the northwest. Here you will follow an opening series of quests that will earn you a Cloud Serpent egg in the color of your choosing and end with the quest "It's a..." in which your baby Cloud Serpent will emerge from its egg and the daily grind for reputation will begin. It should be noted that at the end of this initial quest line you will already have reached Honored with the Cloud Serpents.

Starting the Order of the Cloud Serpent Quest Line

You can continue your reputation grind by either completing daily quests or collecting Onyx Eggs. Please keep in mind that during your reputation grind you will also unlock more quests to continue to pertaining to your Cloud Serpent. You must complete (along with the dailies for additional reputation) these in order to grow your Cloud Serpent and ultimately earn the right to ride it.

Cloud Serpent Daily Quests

Honored

Cloud Serpent daily quests are found on Windless Isle. At Honored reputation, three random daily quests will be available for the player to complete each day. Each daily will reward the player with 500 reputation. (550 with the reputation guild perk).  The following daily quests are available at Honored:

  • Catch!
  • Pooped
  • Sweet as Honey
  • Emptier Nests
  • Feeding Time
  • Disarming the Enemy
  • Sprite Fight
  • The Shoe Is On The Other Foot
  • The Easiest Way to a Serpent's Heart
  • Restoring the Balance
  • Thinning the Pack
  • Needle Me Not
  • Slitherscale Suppression
  • Madcap Mayhem
  • Dark Huntress
  • On the Prowl

Along with the normal daily quests, there are also 4 profession based dailies available. These profession dailies do not change from day to day and reward the player with around 125 reputation each. Due to the fact that these offer so little actual reputation gain the player must decide if these profession-based dailies are worth the effort involved to complete them or not. The profession dailies available are:

  • A Feast for the Senses
  • Fragments of the Past
  • Just a Flesh Wound
  • Snack Time
Revered

At Revered players will unlock the next set of Cloud Serpent quests in which are sky race tutorials that ultimately end in a exciting sky race against 5 different NPCs who are all perched upon fully grown Cloud Serpents of their own. As well as new Cloud Serpent race quests, the player will gain the ability to complete two additional daily quests per day. Completing all the daily quests available at this point will earn you a ton of reputation each day and shoot you quickly to Exalted status. The new daily quests available to be completed once you reached Revered are:

  • Tangled Web
  • Lingering Doubt
  • Weeping Widows
  • The Big Brew-haha
  • Monkey Mischief
  • Preservation
  • Saving the Serpents
  • The Big Kah-Oona
  • The Seed of Doubt

Cloud Serpent Onyx Eggs

If you have completed all the dailies available for the day or are simply looking for an additional way to earn Cloud Serpent reputation you can choose to hunt down Onyx Eggs. These eggs are found on Windless Isle and resemble an egg-shaped rock. Each Onyx Egg you turn in will reward you with around 500 (550 with the guild reputation boost) reputation.

Unlike Daily Quests, players may turn in as many eggs a day as they wish. Thus, any player diligent enough to seek out enough of these eggs could quickly level their reputation to Exalted. However, keep in mind that right now competition for these eggs is likely fierce and players will likely have more success earning reputation with this faction by completing the dailies and using the eggs as a secondary method of reputation gain.

Earning Reputation Faster

There are a few ways to gain reputation faster than normal with factions in Pandaria that can help you save time in the game.

The first way to gain reputation faster requires you to be working on reputation with any secondary characters that you have (or a primary that is at least revered). Once one character gets to revered with a faction you gain the ability to purchase an item from them called a Grand Commendation. This item allows you to earn double reputation with that faction on this and all other characters that you have. It is an awesome speed boost to earning rep, and one that you should make sure you grab as soon as you hit revered with each faction. It cuts that last 21,000 reputation required to get to Exalted down to half. The fact that it speeds up all other characters sure doesn't hurt either.

The second way to earn reputation faster is to champion a faction while running LFG dungeon runs and scenarios each day. This feature was added into the game with Patch 5.2. This feature is especially handy if you have gotten sick of doing dailies for various factions. You can select a faction to champion and you will get 200 reputation with them for the first scenario you complete each day and 300 reputation with them for the first LFG random dungeon that you run each day. Over time this 500 points each day really adds up. If you team this up with a character that already has a Grand Commendation, it means you can get from revered to exalted in 10 days just with scenario and dungeon runs. Not to shabby.

Cloud Serpent Reputation Rewards

Unlike most other reputations, the Order of the Cloud Serpent offers only vanity rewards, the most notable of which is the very cool Cloud Serpent Mount. So don't level this reputation expected armor, weapons, or other rewards that will improve your character.
