Champions Online made the jump to free-to-play last year and Cryptic has made a number of additions and improvements to the game since that time. In the first State of the Game for 2012, Champions Online Executive Producer Rob Overmeyer reflects on the changes made to the game through 2011 and looks ahead to what 2012 holds for the game.

Following the free-to-play conversion last year, Champions Online received a number of updates that introduced new Archetypes such as the recently added The Mountain along with new powers. Additional improvements were made to the new player experience, the minimap, training, missions and more.

2012 will see even more content and improvements to the framework of Champions Online. The next major update set to arrive on PTS in the coming weeks in phases and will include a rework for items and rewards, changes to the crafting system and the launch of Alerts, quick group-based missions using an updated queue system to team up.
