City of Heroes Retires Trial Program and Launches New Freedom Sale

Posted Wed, Aug 17, 2011 by Martuk

Today marks the end of the City of Heroes (CoH) “Free Trial” account and “Refer a Friend” program. With CoH scheduled to begin its free-to-play conversion later this year, the two programs are no longer needed and have been retired as of today. Trial accounts that began before today will still be able to conclude their free trial periods.

The end of the trial program does bring some good news. Today is also the start of the CoH “Declaration of Freedom Sale” in the NCsoft store. Starting today and continuing through August 29th, players can purchase the full CoH game with one month of game time for $1.99. The sale is only good for new accounts, so no existing ones can grab it for an extra 30 days (you know you were thinking it).
