If you haven’t already done so, you should read entry #1 below. This covers the very basic principals of the Trading Post that you must understand before you begin. Please also note that at the start of this tutorial, I had 3050 gold. I'm simply adhering to only spending 50 of that total amount to begin with and only then spending the profits earned from this diary. By the end of this diary series I should have 4000 gold (1000 gold profit being the target).

I went a bit mad yesterday. Fresh from making a profit from yesterday's diary entry, I decided to turn up the heat and spent almost all my money on Mini’s, some Insignia’s, more Orichalcum Boot Casing’s and even more Giver’s Noble Shoulders. For the most part, its worked out well. I woke this morning to 18 gold, 82 silver from overnight sales. That’s pretty good and at this rate, I’d only take 30 days to achieve 1,000 gold if I manage to scrape 20 per day. On the other hand, large quantities of what I bought yesterday haven’t sold. That’s a good and a bad thing.

Right now, I’ve 90 gold to play with out of my profit so far (40 gold) and my original capital (50 gold). I do however have lots of things left to sell:

4 Exquisite Coral Jewels

  • Dire Aureate Staff of Energy
  • 5 Mighty Iron Greatsword of Water
  • 2 Berserker’s Staff of Earth
  • 2 Mini Priority Researcher
  • 87 Orichalcum Boot Casing
  • 1 Mini Jotun
  • 1 Mini Fire Imp

That’s a total of 46 gold’s worth of goods. If all those items sell, I’ll actually end up with 136 gold to play with. It’s a bigger bump than what I was expecting and in part, it’s primarily because things hurried along nicely yesterday.

I ended up having most of my buy orders for the above items filled incredibly quickly and sold so many of them, at such speed, that I probably got a little greedy and placed additional buy orders for Givers Shoulders, Greatsword of Water and Berserker’s Staff of Earth. I also opted to buy additional mini’s. Sadly these additional items, all listed above, haven’t yet sold. Looking on the Trading Post this morning, there’s a fair amount of items cheaper than them so it doesn’t look like they’ll sell in a hurry.

Should I be worried? Not really. I might be 10 gold down at the moment, but I’ve an additional 46 gold sat on the Trading Post. I could, in theory, remove it and list it for significantly cheaper than my competition to the point where I don’t lose money. However, I’m willing to wait it out and play the long game. I’ve still lots of money to play with and if I can, I might avoid Mini’s for the time being.

The problem with buying big ticket items such as Mini’s is the fact that although they have good profit margins, there’s a real risk to them never selling. Considering Mini’s are vanity items and serve almost no purpose, there’s not a huge need for any players to buy them outside of those who want to complete their collections.

As to what I’ll buy now, I’m not entirely sure. Some of my weapons, such as the Greatsword’s of Water have sold, but not fast enough while the Aureate Staff is also struggling to shift. Fortunately I can count on the Berserker staff’s all day, so I might pursue that alongside some more bags. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have made another 20 gold, which will put me well on track for 1,000 gold within 30 days.

Current gold: 90 (excluding 46 golds worth of items on the Trading Post).
