DayZ has been a mod that has brought a lot of attention to ARMA II, so much so, that the mod has now registered more than one million players. With the recent announcement of The WarZ, another standalone online zombie survival shooter that was in some ways inspired by the DayZ mod, Bohemia Interactive has decided that it is time to do the same with DayZ. Let the zombie revolution begin.

DayZ creator Dean Hall will be heading up the project and plans to continue development of the game and support for the mod in parallel. Details about the game are being kept under wraps at the moment, but Hall will be attending this year's gamescom event, where it's likely more will be revealed. It's pretty safe to assume that it will include online play, some of the features that have made DayZ so successful and lots of zombies.

You can read the brief announcement from Hall here. Visit the DayZ game website and stay tuned for future updates.
