I fully admit that I’m not the best comic geek in the world. Most of what I
know about super heroes comes from some of childhood television shows and
popular super hero movies. It is never too late, though, to brush up on one’s
geek cred and that is exactly what
DC Universe Online has inspired me to do.
With so many super heroes in the DC lineup, who do I start with? Why my very own
favorite of course! This heroine graced my TV and my Underoos during the late
1970s and has made girls everywhere believe that they too can keep up
with the big boys in crime fighting.

Little Known Fact: Wonder Woman and Batman had a little thing at
one time. Talk about a super duo!

There is something ultimately appealing about a tall and beautiful Amazon
princess who can appear
as noble and demure as any princess should, still kick your ass if you tick her
off, and manage to wear
outfits that show off her curves while successfully avoiding the cursed nipple
slip. Known as Diana Prince
from the mythical world of Themyscira, Wonder Woman was born into a world of
gods and goddesses.
Her background is heavily influenced by Greek mythology with a liberal dash of
epic Amazon man
hating. Diana was created from the soul of the first unborn child killed by man
which ultimately has to
give a girl some hang-ups, right? Diana was granted gifts by the Pantheon
(Demeter, Athena, Artemis,
Aphrodite, Hestia, and Hermes). It is these gifts and the gift of the Lasso of
Truth granted by Hephaestus
that gives Wonder Woman her supernatural powers.

Face bashing is the new sexy.

Throughout Wonder Woman’s history, which first graced comic books in the early
1940s, she has
undergone countless makeovers and various incarnations but her mission has
stayed the same. As an
emissary from her world, she has continually fought for the protection of man
from the forces of evil
and sometimes from themselves. The Amazonian princess has stood side by side
next to the most iconic
of super heroes including Superman, Batman, and Flash and has had a hand in the
workings of the Teen
Titans and the Justice League. Impressive resume, isn’t it? She manages to do it
all without smudging
her lipstick which, my friends, is the real trick.

The next incarnation of Wonder Woman is upon us in a new medium and for a new
generation. DC
Universe Online not only brings Diana to life in a three dimensional action MMOG,
but DCUO makes
this amazing heroine a primary character in the game. Featured in the game’s
cinematic trailer, Wonder
Woman joins Batman and Superman to create a holy trinity of super hero
badassness to guide players
through a confusing and chaotic new world shaken up by Brainiac. DCUO also
brings in the talent with
known voice actors portraying these comic icons and Gina Torres, of Firefly and
Serenity fame, voices
Wonder Woman herself.
