DCUO Producer Addresses Game Issues Following Massive Surge of New Players

Posted Tue, Nov 08, 2011 by Martuk

DC Universe Online seems to be a victim of its own success. After the game’s switch to free-to-play last week, login queue times increased and performance in-game decreased. Part of the problem stems from the rapid influx of new players, which Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley tweeted was around a 1000% increase of the population prior to the new free-to-play model launch.

We are over 1000% of our pre-F2P concurrent numbers. We're very aware of the long queues and other issues. We're on it.

DC Universe Online Producer Lorin “DeadMeat” Jameson recently posted a new Producer’s Update to ensure fans that improvements are on the way for login queues and some other issues such as players getting stuck on the loading screen after character select. The team will also be adding priority queuing for DC Universe Online Legendary and Premium players over the next few days.

Wasn't the goal of going F2P to increase participation? Only after F2P launch they're starting to put things in place to deal with increased traffic? Wow.

Now think of all the people who gave DCUO a first try and found it lacking due to foreseeable issues, and won't be back. Odd stuff.

this is the worst game i have ever played.who makes a superhero game and removes all thier powers for game experience i have to point out games are made to be fun to play .this one has no redeamable qualitys the game is only design is to keep people playin long enough for sony to reacoupe thier money the difficulty is unbelievable after level30 it makes me angered to see such problems are not addressed by the games designers its been out for a year and things like log ins game ques take forever and when you do there are other problems such as lag glitched rooms death from cheap kills every game devolves into everyone blameing each other for dieing i have never played agame with a worse physic system i blame it on the lame attempts to download new problemsinto the game to remove play ability to free players forceing them into payin memberships to me dc stands for double cross they give freeplay but then take it away im a payin member who is left with the results pathetic how sony allows this well do what any free man can against a corupt corporation tell sony shove it up your corprate ass and go out and buy an xbox360
