Diablo III is a sequel that’s been in the making for over a decade, but every time it feels like the game is getting close to release, it seems to get notched back a little more. In a recent financial report, the game that was expected to arrive in late 2011, and was pushed back to early 2012, has now been nudged back to around the second quarter, which is between April and June.

"We can also confirm that we are targeting a Q2 launch for Diablo 3. We expect to announce more details about the release schedule in the coming weeks," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.

That’s now the expected timeframe. But given the game’s past with date shuffling, don’t get your hopes up.

Blizzard CFO Thomas Tippl also stated during the call that they plan to release two games this year but didn't specify what the second may be. If Diablo III is one, that leaves the World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Pandaria and StarCraft 2 : Heart of the Swarm as the other. It's pretty safe to rule Titan out.
