A while back the late great Dungeons & Dragons legend, Gary Gygax, wrote an adventure module called Dungeonland, a rather surreal story for tabletop RPG players. While IÂm not sure if the new Dungeonland game from Critical Studio drew on that adventure as inspiration for their title, it certainly appears to embody some elements familiar to tabletop RPGs.
Dungeonland, like other multiplayer RPGs, allows players to choose their hero and adventure into dungeons for experience and loot but with one interesting twist  it also allows another player to become The Dungeon Maestro, which is similar to the Dungeon Masters in tabletop RPGs. The Dungeon Maestro is capable of manipulating the dungeon experience to try and take out the adventure party.
If all that sounds interesting to you thereÂs some good news. DungeonlandÂs official release date was announced today and the co-op hack Ân slash action RPG will be opening its dungeon doors on January 22, 2013. Additionally, publisher Paradox interactive has announced that Dungeonland pre-orders are now available at the price of $9.99 on several digital distribution platforms such as Steam, GameStop and others.

NEW YORK  January 8, 2013  Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games for brilliant conquerors and filthy do-gooders alike, today received a friendly memo from the Dungeon Maestro, the genius behind their upcoming co-op hack Ân slash title Dungeonland. "The sooner you get off your heroically gigantic rear and pre-order, the sooner you can start disposing of your miserable little 'friends,'" said the Dungeon Maestro, VP of Formerly Human Resources at Paradox Interactive. ÂAs much fun as it is to take a personal tour of Dungeonland, thereÂs no better way to visit my park than with other players. It's such a helpful way to sort out your relationships  which of your peers contains the most blood, which one looks the tastiest to a dragon, and so forth. Have you paid me yet? Why are we still talking?Â
As an added incentive, pre-orders of Dungeonland will come with the Grimoire Pack, a set of perks allowing for sneakier traps and meaner monsters when playing as the Dungeon Maestro. The game will be demonstrated in a live streaming event occurring tomorrow, January 9, at 7 p.m. GMT (11 a.m. PST). Fans can watch the Dungeon Maestro hard at work slaughtering hapless fools on Paradox's official Twitch TV channel, at twitchtv.com/paradoxinteractive.
