1. Be Patient
Just because you’re not good now, doesn’t mean you won’t be with time. You are probably comparing your skill to the other players in the game, but you have to keep in mind that they may have been playing for a lot longer than you. They may have better understanding of the game play or they may have unlocked much better weapons than you have. Have patience and you will reach that level too.

2. Develop Your Own Play Style
Every player has their own style and you need to discover what yours is. It may develop over time. Begin by playing without analysing your style too much, but once you have been playing for a while, try to work out what sort of player you are and what works best for you.

3. Understand Why You Die
To improve how you play, you need to understand why you die - every single time you are killed. Work out where you were killed from and how you were killed. For example, a head shot in the open means you were killed by a sniper and you may even be able to work out where the sniper usually lies in wait. This will help you avoid situations that commonly get you killed and vary your tactics to help ensure you stay alive. If your game has a “kill cam” that shows you your killer in-game for a few seconds after you were killed, use it to gain useful information for next time.

4. Keep It Simple
Keep the game simple to begin with until you have a better handle on how the game is played and where your strengths and weaknesses lie. Watch other players to get some ideas and some good tricks and you can try to implement some of them over time. But, take it slowly and learn before you just dive in.

5. Shoot to Kill
Aim for a body part that has a high damage multiplier. This is most commonly the head. Unfortunately, the head is relatively small, so going for the torso may serve you better. Either way, make sure you aim and you aim to kill.

6. Learn Weapon and Equipment Management
Being able to manage your weapons and equipment will help you win. You need to first understand how the game works in terms of how much you can carry at one time, the types of combat areas in the game and your style of playing. Similar strategies can also be used in other types of games as well.
