If you’ve been keeping up with our EverQuest Next coverage as the SOE Live reveal draws near, you may be, like us, wondering how the current EverQuest II storyline could play a part in the next installment of the series. But since anything at this point is pure speculation, you’ll have to dive in and see for yourself.

EverQuest II’s Darkness Dawns update rolled out to live servers today, adding the next stage of the Velious storyline as the New Combine army guards the newly found Tear of Veeshan, an artifact that may turn the tides of war. But the oracles still see chaos and uncertainty, so nothing is for certain as the Ages End prophecy has predicted the end of the world.

Doom and gloom aside, the Darkness Dawns update also adds four new Fabled dungeons, the 24-player Arena of the Gods raid, three new contested avatar raids, character advancement templates, and much more. Check out the patch notes for the full rundown.
