CCP Announces EVE Online: Odyssey Expansion

Posted Mon, Mar 25, 2013 by Martuk

It’s been a busy few months for CCP and the EVE Online team. Fresh off of the DUST 514 open beta, integration to the Tranquility server, and the launch of the Retribution expansion last December, CCP today announced the next installment of the EVE saga with Odyssey, a new expansion designed in the spirit of the Apocrypha expansion that aims to expand exploration opportunities in the EVE universe.

Odyssey will introduce a newly revamped scanning mechanic to EVE along with a new and more accessible user interface and new rewards for finding and interacting with hidden sites within the universe. Odyssey will also include universe-wide redistribution and ship rebalancing for social, military, economic, and political levels to help renew and create new conflicts.

Additional details about the Odyssey expansion will be revealed at EVE Fanfest next month. In the meantime, you can visit the EVE: Odyssey expansion page to learn more.

EVE: Odyssey is scheduled to launch on June 4th, 2013.

CCP ANNOUNCES EVE ONLINE: ODYSSEY TO BE RELEASED JUNE 4TH

As EVE Celebrates a Second Decade, 19th Free Expansion Opens New Frontiers for Exploration

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND—Mar 25, 2013—CCP Games, the world’s leading independent massively multiplayer game developer, today announced EVE Online: Odyssey, the 19th free expansion to the award-winning sci-fi MMO EVE Online® will be released on June 4th, 2013. In the tradition of the Apocrypha expansion, Odyssey greatly expands the opportunities for players to explore all corners of the massive EVE Universe and its 7,929 solar systems.

EVE Online: Odyssey will take the exploration of space to a whole new level with an entirely revamped scanning mechanic, a fresh and accessible user interface and enticing new rewards for finding and interacting with sites hidden among the stars. Universe-wide resource redistribution and ship rebalancing will shake up the entire EVE metagame across social, economic, military and political levels, leading to new types of conflicts, fresh strategies and shifting allegiances amongst EVE’s player alliances.
