Last week may have been a little light on the action, but things are starting to ramp up again. We have international competition in League of Legends, a brand new style of Hearthstone tournament, and teams vying for the final spots in the SMITE Pro League. Here are the biggest events that you should be watching this weekend.

Hearthstone

Challengestone

I’ve personally always greatly enjoyed the deck-building side of card games, and it seems I’m not alone. Kripparian has designed the Challengestone tournament to test some of the world’s best players on their ability to not only play decks already constructed, but to think outside the box to construct all new decks based on different rules. It should make for an extremely fun and interesting tournament to watch, giving fans a completely different look at the world of competitive Hearthstone. Casted by Kripp himself, along with Artosis, there’s no question that this tournament is going to deliver. League of Legends

Mid Season Invitational - Semifinals and Finals

As of the time of this article’s creation, we don’t yet know which teams will be moving out of the group stage at MSI. What we do know is that this tournament has already delivered some incredible matches, beginning with Fnatic vs Team SoloMid, and keeping up the pace as we watched EDG get obliterated by SK Telecom T1. Besiktas’ Energy almost solo killed Faker, while his team did claim first blood on SKT’s mega star mid laner. This is a clash of the best teams from all over the world, and few things are more exciting than that for any eSport. So far, SKT has looked completely unbeatable, whether they’re using Faker or Easyhoon for the mid lane. Keeping an eye on whether or not they can carry that undefeated streak throughout the tournament will be a huge storyline, as will watching to see if hometown heroes TSM can bounce back from a rough 1-2 start after the first day of competition. Any fan of League of Legends can’t afford to miss this event, and the semifinals and finals will be taking place over the weekend.

SMITE

Summer Promotion - NA and EU

The second round of Summer qualifiers will begin on Saturday. SPL teams Upcoming Stars (Europe) and Enemy eSports (North America) will face off against Challengers EloFishers and Boogaloo, respectively. Both SPL teams are going to have their work cut out for them, as they each finished winless during the season, compiling 0-10 records. This is certainly not encouraging, but all hope is not yet lost. Just one best of 5 series win will give them another chance to prove they belong in the SMITE Pro League.

The qualifiers will conclude on Sunday, as a full slate of Challenger action is set. Europe’s Epsilon eSports will take on Da Bronkos, while Eager and Hi5 will do battle in NA. Epsilon and Eager were the top Challenger teams in their respective regions, and such, will enter their matches as the favorites to join the SPL. The broadcast will start at 1:00pm EDT each day on SMITE’s Twitch channel, so make sure to tune in to see which teams will be competing in the Summer Split.
