FFXI Announces Seekers of Adoulin Expansion and Bids Farewell to Hiromichi Tanaka

Posted Mon, Jun 25, 2012 by Martuk

Square Enix recently received a dose of both good and bad news at this year's VanaFest. The good news – Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) has announced its latest expansion with the Seekers of Adoulin. A new website for the expansion has been launched along with a new trailer. Check it out via YouTube embed below.

As for the bad news, FFXI veteran and producer, Hiromichi Tanaka, is leaving the company after 20 years citing the desire to pursue his own video game projects, but Tanaka’s health was also a major factor in the decision. While the severity of Tanaka’s health condition is unknown, a segment translated by Andriasang of an interview with Tanaka via Famitsu indicated that he was suffering from a “major illness.” Tanaka will be succeeded by Akihiko Matsui as producer for FFXI.

Ten Ton Hammer would like to wish Mr. Tanaka the best in his future endeavors and a speedy recovery from his illness.
