To say that Final Fantasy XIV has had a troubled past would be a bit of an understatement. After its initial launch in September 2010, several issues continued to plague the game, leading to the replacement of the leadership team with the new Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida heading up a series of new updates to improve the existing games and inevitably revamp it under the new name of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Early access began over the weekend with a few issues, but today marks the MMORPG’s official relaunch on the PC and the initial launch on the PlayStation 3, bringing a new beginning for players and the brand. As part of today’s launch, Naoki Yoshida penned a new Producer’s Letter reflecting on the revamped update and the lead up to launch. Give it a read and check out the official launch trailer below.
