Specialists come equipped with skills that allow them to help protect their squad and dominate their enemies with special class abilities such as the Blackout portable EMP generator, which can jam enemy weapons, reduce mobility and render enemy tech useless for a time, or deploy the A.E.G.I.S. shield to protect allies.
