Bigger online multiplayer seems to be the name of the game for many upcoming gaming titles. Rockstar today revealed their plans for Grand Theft Auto Online that was teased during E3 2013 and scheduled for a reveal earlier this week. And though it may be a bit smaller than some had hoped, it still looks like it will provide some interesting gaming opportunities.

Grand Theft Auto Online provides a consistent and expanding world filled with various personalities and structured and unstructured content. Up to 16 players can play together to form teams or compete against each other to complete missions, earn cash to customize their characters, buy an apartment, or a garage to load up with vehicles. Additionally, creative fans can also design their own races, PvP matches, and more using the content creator to share with other players.

Access to Grand Theft Auto Online will be free with every retail copy of Grand Theft Auto V. Additional details and a new video preview are available on the Grand Theft Auto Online website.

Grand Theft Auto V is scheduled to release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th, 2013. Grand Theft Auto Online will launch shortly after on October 1st.
