Taken Champions for the Taken Assault quest line function a lot like the House of Wolves wolf packs you had to track down and kill, in that you have to find them yourself first. Like the wolf packs they will spawn periodically in one of several locations on whichever world you’re heading too. Just go to the regular patrol mission and one of the areas below to start.

Earth

  • The Divide
  • Rocket Yards
  • Skywatch

Venus

  • Shattered Coast
  • Ishtar Cliffs
  • Ishtar Commons
  • Citidel

Mars

  • Badlands
  • ScabLands
  • Valley of the Kings
  • Buried City
  • Hollows

You’ll know when the event starts by an announcement that says the Taken are corrupting this area. When that happens, waves of taken will start portalling in around the area. Your job is to kill them quickly until a lieutenant (yellow health bar) comes through one of the portals.

When the lieutenant appears make quick work of him and then repeat for the next waves of portals. Eventually after you have killed several lieutenants a named champion will appear, just like in the House of Wolves events.

The other objectives of the quests are drops that will fall off enemies and the boss at the same time the corruption is taking place. Look for them to be marked on your map with the trianglular icon.

Note: You must kill the lieutenants within a certain amount of time or the corruption will leave and you’ll have to start again.

Theses champions are tough hombres though, so you better have at least a couple other players around to help take care of him and the enemies he spawns in with him.

Solar weapons and ark weapons work great against the taken, so load up before you head out into the field.

Each mission usually requires at least 2 champions be killed, so if you’ve found yourself a good group, stick together and head to the next spawn location.

When you’ve complete the Taken War quest line you will gain access to the Taken daily missions which can be turned in for reputation and experience.
