There is no gamer out there that doesn’t like the idea of squeezing little improvement that they can out of their PC when they set of to conquer new lands. With the head start of Guild Wars 2 looming just over a day away, ArenaNet’s Bill Freist checked in with a new blog to talk about some of the optimization metrics that the team observed during testing, and you might want to give it a look.

Freist serves up some details and charts about various graphics cards and driver performance, with some older drivers performing significantly better than the newest one. One such case is the Nvidia 580 & 680 GTX, which seemed to gain about 20 FPS with older drivers than with the newer 301.42.

Freist also offers other details on optimization efforts and ongoing improvements, but it’s certainly worth giving it a look if you’re looking to make a driver tweak before the gates open this Saturday, or if you’re just curious to see how similar PC builds might have stacked up in performance.
