INTRODUCTION

The Trollshaws, lying between the scrub-plains of the Lone-lands in the west and the feet of the Misty Mountains in the east, is as harsh and rugged as it is beautiful. Consisting largely of high foothills divided by canyons and river gorges, and home to many varieties of the trolls which give the region its name, the Trollshaws are also home to the graceful and wise Elves, most notably Elrond Halfelven, master of Rivendell.

The actual civilized population of the Trollshaws is fairly small, with only one major town and few sizable outlying settlements. Rivendell is a major city, with all the amenities of civilization, and Thorenhad and Echad Candelleth, the only other "towns," are quite small and not much more than glorified camps. With such a large map and so few quest hubs, expect travel time to be a factor for a lot of quests here.
