TOWNS AND QUEST HUBS

These are the towns, camps and other assorted places where
players can pick up quests. Level range describes the optimum level
range for XP gain. Important NPCs are those who bestow quest chains or
are crucial to the epic storyline, with position coordinates listed if
located outside the main hub. Description is a broad guideline of what
to expect from each quest hub without going into too specific of detail.

The
first sign of civilization you come across in the Trollshaws is two
dudes camping, and you have to work to find them. Get used to that.

BARACHEN'S CAMP

Level Range: 18 - 27

Important NPCs: Barachen, Heithur
Ironfist

Town Services

  • Campfire
  • Supplier

Description: Two dudes, an elf
and a dwarf, out camping in the wilderness. Actually, Heithur Ironfist
was involved with a party of dwarves who got scattered and lost in the
hills somewhere while on a mission, and Barachen has been standing
guard at the Last Bridge for some time now.

Thorenhad src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/95435">

The
sons of Elrond were likely sent here as punishment for being the very
worst NPCs in the game, causing needless grief in every single quest in
which they are active participants.

THORENHAD

Level Range: 35 - 40

Important NPCs: Elladan, Elrohir,
Narlinn, Wethorm, Birrungur Blacksteel

Town Services

  • Supplier
  • Provisioner
  • Armour and Weaponsmiths
  • Campfires
  • Mailbox
  • Milestone
  • Stable-master (Ost Guruth, Rivendell, Echad Candelleth)

Description: A small trading post and
defender camp in the middle of nowhere. Elladan and Elrohir, the sons
of Elrond, are in charge here. There are not a great many quests here,
but that's normal in the Trollshaws.

alt="Echad Candelleth"
src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/95436">

Don't
let the massive size fool you: this place is tough to find unless you
know just where to look.

ECHAD CANDELLETH

Level Range: 40 - 45

Important NPCs: Wistan, Indor,
Bainthir, Tongannel, Candelleth, Daervellas, Cerys

Town Services

  • Campfire
  • Healer
  • Milestone
  • Stable-master (Rivendell, Thorenhad, Gwingris, Echad
    Eregion)

Description: Candelleth and her
companions have set up camp in this Rhudaurian ruin to search for
agents of Mordor. There are a good number of quests here, and the camp
plays an important role in later-Volume I epic quests. The
Stable-master's horse to Thorenhad takes more time than does riding
one's own horse there - off-roading more or less due north among the
hills is a much shorter route than riding the obsucred roads all the
way up and then back down the mountains along the river gorge.

If
this is the "homely" house, I'm dying to see the nice-looking ones...

RIVENDELL

Level Range: varies

Important NPCs: Every member of
the Fellowship of the Ring, Elrond, Bilbo Baggins, Glorfindel, Arwen
(up the hill at Imdolen), many others

Town Services

  • Class Trainers
  • Standard crafting facilities with novice
    vendors
  • Superior crafting facilities with expert vendors (Imlad
    Gelair)
  • Forge-master
  • Relic-master
  • Superior Study with expert vendors (Last Homely House)
  • Guild of Scholars (Last Homely House)
  • Armour and Weaponsmiths
  • Healer
  • Provisioner
  • Reputation vendors (Imlad Gelair)
  • Reflecting Pool
  • Milestone
  • Mailbox
  • Vault (Last Homely House)
  • Hobby Master
  • Vintner
  • Bard
  • Notary
  • Clerk of Kinships
  • Escrow Broker
  • Keeper of Gifts
  • Skirmish camp
  • Stable-master (Thorenhad, Ost Guruth, South Bree, Esteldin,
Ettenmoors, Suri-Kyla, Gath Forthnir, Echad Candelleth, Gwingris, Echad
Eregion, Echad Dunnan, Echad Mirobel, Inner Calas Galadhon, Gloin's
    Camp, Hrimbarg, Lhanuch)

Description: The great home of
Elrond Halfelven, grown to the size of a large town and with all the
amenities of a large city. Rivendell plays a major part in many of the
epic book quests - the town itself and the people within. Every inch of
the place seems steeped in legend, and new legends are forged here on a
daily basis. All of the members of the Fellowship of the Ring are here
- Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and Boromir are in the Guest Rooms at 30.7S,
6.2W, and Gandalf, Frodo, Samwise, Pippin and Merry are all in Bilbo's
Room on the main floor of the Last Homely House. Even old Bilbo himself
is still kicking around, hanging out in the kitchen with his Elven
friends. The
reputation vendors in Imlad Gelair are in a tricksome spot - at the
south end of the Bridge of Rivendell, angle off to the east and follow
the trail to the cave. Imlad Gelair is all the way through the cave in
a glorious clearing on the other side. Do yourself a favor when
exploring Rivendell, and stick to the well-trod paths. Looking for
shortcuts can lead to broken legs and broken hearts.

MISCELLANEOUS

Level Range: varies

Important NPCs: Rochwen (33.2S,
20.2W), Thoroniel (28.6S, 19.4W), Calenthon (28.2S, 15.3W), Arrod
(33.8S,
14.6W)

Town Services:  None

Heithir Ironfist find his missing dwarves, and has some other concerns
of her own about the local wildlife. Thoroniel is surveilling the
troll-infested valleys of North Trollshaws. Calenthon is keeping an eye
on Nan Tornaeth and is concerned about the walking dead that lurk
there. Arrod is socially maladroit and smitten by a maiden fair. All of
them need your help with their endeavors.
