directly connected to it. This does not include instances that are part
of the epic books or other quest chains.

DUNGEONS

These are smaller, public instanced spaces that can be entered
by anyone at anytime, with or without associated quests. North Downs
has a couple of dungeons.

Elladan
and Elrohir, the very embodiment of nepotism
.

Level Range: 40 - 65

Type: Defense

Size: Solo, Duo, Small Fellowship, Fellowship, Raid (12)

Description: The forces of evil have marched up to the
bank of the Bruinen and waited for the sign to attack. Dark clouds roll
in as a great storm approaches. If the Ford falls, Rivendell shall not
be far behind it. The battle is nearly upon you...

And the worst part is, Elladan and Elrohir are there to
"help."

Tips
& Tricks

You have your work cut out for you here. Elladan and Elrohir
will seemingly do everything in their power to pull aggro from every
mob, actively hamper CC and tanking efforts and finally die during the
climactic final battle because they don't realize when they are in the
presence of their betters.

To be fair, Elladan and Elrohir hit pretty hard, but their AI
is horrible - they attack everything and cannot be called back by
players when they run off and attack things they should leave alone.
They don't have any self-heals, attack rooted mobs, run uncontrolled
through the battle with blind aggression, and they will literally fight
until they drop, which causes the skirmish to fail. This is bad enough
when there is only one such nuisance - escort quests, Defense of the
Prancing Pony skirmish, etc. - but in this case there are 2
chuckleheads that must be constantly monitored for horrible AI
decisions and unchecked, blind aggression.

From the very start of the battle, you will notice a line of
defilers along the far bank. You never need to attack or kill these
mobs. They just stand there, not healing or moving from that spot
unless attacked. You can ignore them for the whole fight. But Elrohir
will not. If he gets anywhere near them, he will run over and start
attacking them and won't stop until they are all dead. This is damned
inconvenient when it happens during a fresh wave of enemies, who will
surge upon Elladan because he instantly opens fire as soon as they come
into range. When soloing this skirmish, this is a tedious situation at
best, and at worst will lead to a fail.

Aside from the difficulty of dealing with the brothers, you
will face 4 assaults of mobs, hurling themselves from the tops of the
siege engines on the far bank of the Bruinen in several waves per
assault. All of the waves for each assault come from the same tower,
and players can usually head the mobs off before they reach the middle.
Elrohir will always charge in with his sword and Elladan will always
dash up and shoot.

When it is not storming too badly, the archers on the eastern
bank will occasionally fire volleys of arrows at predetermined "hot
zones." These "hot zones" appear as glowing circles, usually on the
mounds of dirt rising above the water level. Tanks can lead groups of
mobs into this zone and hold them there to receive the benefit of the
volley. It's not much damage, but it's enough to make this tactic
worthwhile. Elladan and Elrohir ignore the hot zones completely, and
will usually manage to drag at least one of the mobs away.
Occasionally, the rain will fall harder and the archers will be unable
to fire their volleys. Typically, you probably won't miss those times.

For the final battle against the uruk and the troll, do your
level best to keep aggro off of Elladan and Elrohir, and keep them at
the rear of the troll so they don't get bashed with frontal-area-effect
attacks. A message will show up on the screen indicating that the river
is about to rise up in anger - when this comes up, you want to drag the
troll into the path of the oncoming rush of water, which lowers his
defenses.
