With
the rise of co-op multiplayer and action RPGs, fans are eagerly
anticipating the long awaited action MMORPG,
Mythos.
Hardly able to contain ourselves at the thought of dungeon-crawling for
fun and profit, Ten Ton Hammer talked to Demian Moreno,
Redbana’s
Mythos
Community Manager. Demian Moreno gave us details about the long range,
death-dealing, bomb-using, bad-ass Gadgeteer class as well as the
Marksman skill tree.
Ten
Ton Hammer: Can you give us a quick background on the Gadgeteer class?
Demian
Moreno: Gadgeteers are
masters of ranged combat, dealing insane amounts of damage at long
range. They can summon multiple gadgets to wreak havoc on enemies or
enhance their own combat abilities. They can also master the creation
of bombs and traps, dealing large amounts of AOE damage or disabling
large groups of enemies.
Don't underestimate the power
of the Gadgeteer.
Ten
Ton Hammer: Do any of their traits make them suitable for any
particular role, say a tank or DPS?
Demian
Moreno: Gadgeteers are
primarily heavy damage dealers. They also have several skills that
allow them to disable and control their enemies. They have a few
options to increase their survivability but are generally frail, so I
don't suggest trying to play them as tanks! If you enjoy taking enemies
down before they have a chance to lay a finger on you and enjoy having
a large selection of weapons and pets, then this is the class for you.
Ten
Ton Hammer: Gadgeteers have gadgets as pets. Do these have any
advantages over a Bloodletter or Pyromancer’s pets?
Demian
Moreno: Gadgeteers have the
largest selection of pets of any class. All of their pets have very
short casting times which makes it easier to summon your army of
minions at a moment's notice. All of the Gadgeteer pets have a limited
duration though, so part of the strategic fun for this class is knowing
when to summon your pets and keeping the right distance from your
enemies.
Ten
Ton Hammer: So you’ve now revealed the Marksman skill tree
for the Gadgeteer. What is the focus of this skill tree and how does it
empower Gadgeteers?
Demian
Moreno: The Marksman tree is
all about guns. No other skill tree in the game offers so many ways to
modify and enhance your ranged weapons' damage. Marksman skills can
increase your guns' range, damage, and rate of fire, or even add stun,
pierce rows of enemies, cause AOE fire damage, ricochet off of walls,
poison enemies and fire multiple bullets. It is a ton of fun to shoot
off a hail of bullets and find monsters dying off screen from your
various effects!
This skill tree can be both challenging and rewarding because so much
of your damage output relies on your gear. It is easy to grab a skill
or two from another tree to increase your survivability, or better yet
bring a friend along that can help provide some cover so you can fully
unleash pain on your enemies.
Ten
Ton Hammer: How will the Marksman skill tree help Gadgeteers in terms
of solo adventuring and group runs?
Demian
Moreno: Marksman solo well by
learning to position themselves in combat. Getting surrounded by
enemies is not a situation that a Marksman wants to be in. This applies
to both solo and group combat. A Marksman that is able to shoot with
impunity is a dangerous adversary that any team will be glad to have at
their backs. With the right combination of skills they are well
equipped to deal with either hordes of enemies or tough, high health
targets.
