Those waking up and checking out the Diablo III leaderboards today may be in for a surprise to see some names no longer listed. No, they didn't get "rekt" by the competition, Blizzard brought about another banwave to remove these ner'do'wells from the game and the leaderboard:

Some of the shifts you may be seeing on leaderboards are a direct result of a recent ban wave issued for cheating.

Players that were found to be in violation were removed from the leaderboards and other rankings have been adjusted appropriately as a result. This means your ranking may have increased if someone ranked above you was removed from the leaderboard. As we move forward to future seasons and eras, we'll be continuing to monitor for such behavior and take appropriate action, though we may not always message when such ban waves occur.

While details about which cheats got the boot, community theroycrafting brings about another wave of botters and map hackers are getting the boot. It goes to show that the easy way isn't the best way when you're playing a game with others. The Diablo franchise has been full of cheating since the early days of the original Diablo, when you'd log on Battle.net and people would throw the best gear in the game at you. Diablo II fought long and hard against cheaters, implementing the rust storm to purge dupes (which was always a nice surprise for legitimate players who traded their good items for bad). Now with D3, we're still seeing rampant cheating, although as Blizzard gets more serious about the seasons, we're also seeing a much stronger backlash against those who bot, maphack, dupe, and more.

I'm not specifically sure if this is addressing some of the concerns about the PS4 version, but I do know that the community speculates that "T****Hud" can be leading some of these bans, due to the program reading RAM. Remember, no matter what the program offers you featurewise, if it's not cool with the game developer, then it's not cool to use.

You really think that? Yes, they do have the right and you agreed to it when you made your battle.net account. The software is called Warden and it evaluates game processes, game memory, and game files. That is why they can ban accounts that use programs that violate the terms of use. They have been banning accounts based on Warden results for about 10 years now. Never has anyone been able to challenge that in court and win.

If you feel that you don't want Warden running on your PC then feel free to uninstall the games and close your bnet account.

For those of you who play D3 legit, enjoy your higher rank on the leaderboards!
