In the Summer Split of 2014, Martin "Rekkles" Larsson was considered to be the best AD Carry player in Europe, by a wide margin. The Fnatic organization that had nurtured his talent since before he was even old enough to participate in the LCS was reaping the fruits of their labor and patience, watching Rekkles blossom from a prodigy into a bona-fide star. Fnatic was happy to remain a top team in Europe, though there were signs of trouble as they didn't win an LCS split for the first time ever, and their performance at the World Championships was underwhelming.

Those troubles became all too apparent when every member of the team (with the exception of Support player Bora "YellOwStaR" Kim) left following the end of Season 4. Rekkles went to Alliance (later Elements), the team that had de-throned Fnatic in the EU LCS. With his teammates leaving Fnatic and Elements looking to be the strongest team in Europe, Larsson wanted to give himself the best chance possible at getting back to the LCS. However, things didn't go quite as planned, as Elements struggled mightily in the Season 5 Spring Split, managing only a 7th place finish. On the other hand, Fnatic ended up back on top, riding 4 LCS rookies to a first place finish. The new player who had the least hype around him all split was new AD Carry Pierre “Steeelback” Medjaldi, who despite claiming the second-highest KDA ratio and gold per minute stats on his team, was often considered a third threat, behind top laner Huni and mid laner Febiven. Steeelback managed to garner some fan support, but it appears his time with Fnatic is short-lived.

No longer happy with Elements, Rekkles is coming back to Fnatic, according to a report from The Daily Dot. While YellOwStaR's fearless leadership and constant map awareness were the perfect pairing with Rekkles' more passive style, Elements' support Patrick "Nyph" Funke was too passive in his own right, leading to Elements often without a real way to make plays. Transitioning back to Fnatic should be a significantly better environment for Rekkles, and he should be an upgrade at the position for Fnatic. As they look to not only go back to Worlds, but make a deep run at that tournament, this was a move they felt they needed to make. In the meantime, Steeelback will remain with the team for the Mid Season Invitational, where Fnatic will take on top teams from regions all around the world.

As of yet, there has been no official team confirmation of the move, though Elements has hinted strongly that they will be bringing back the man Rekkles replaced, Erik "Tabzz" van Helvert.
