Recently, there was a pretty large discussion on twitter and official forums about the new valor grind in 6.2.3 and many users were left unhappy. I was one of them, who felt the system felt like an unhealthy short term super grind while lacking sustainable longevity.

Today, blizzard has issued clarification on valor amounts as well as a buff to amount of valor earned from Mythic dungeons. The following are the amounts of valor that can be earned from each activity.

  • Mythic Dungeon (Valor awarded with dungeon completion, once per dungeon per week) – 300 Valor Points
  • Complete the weekly Event quest from Seer Kazal (Pet Battle Event excluded) – 500 Valor Points
  • Heroic Dungeon (complete your first random Heroic of the day) – 100 Valor Points
  • Raid Finder wing (once per week per wing) – 150 Valor Points for Hellfire Citadel wings, 75 Valor Points for Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry wings

The maximum you could acquire per week is 700 from Heroic Dungeons + 2400 from Mythic Dungeons + 500 from event  + 750 from Hellfire Raid Finder + 525 from Highmaul/Foundry Raid Finder = 4875. This means it'll only take 2 weeks to upgrade gear in every slot. Biggest change being the mythic dungeon buff.

They also went on further to explain that the reason the Pet Battle challenge weekly event is excluded is because it and pet battling are account-wide.
