What kind of character customization is available?

Tabula Rasa will offer players a number of options to differentiate themselves from other players. Character creation will obviously offer different faces but based on the exclusive armor dyes you'll get in the Collectors Edition, I'm assuming there will be regular armor dyes as well. Whether these will be dropped, crafted, or rewards for quests is still unknown at this point.

How does the naming system work?

Tabula Rasa goes a little outside the norm by first requiring you to select a last name. Your characters will all be known by this last name so choose wisely. Nothing has really been established for a naming convention and we haven't heard of any restrictions but if you name yourself Zomgsocool you'll probably find yourself some ridicule.

Is there a death penalty?

Of course there is silly. Oh, what is it? According to Community Manager April "CuppaJo" Burba, death will result in a temporary stat loss and you'll respawn at the nearest hospital. While there will be rez kits for purchase to help these effects, you'll still need to Fred and Barney it back to where you were. It appears they want you back in the game fairly quickly but no word on how far away some of these respawn points can really be.

How does advancement work?

Players will progress through the game by levels in order to gain class choices. According to a preview by MMORPG.com class choices will be given at level 5, 15, and 30 allowing players ample opportunity to decide what they want to be. Tabula Rasa also provides numerous armor types and weapons, including rare drops (according to IGN) which will allow players to improve their equipment. With Player vs Player elements involved there could very likely be further enhancements to progression in the future.

What is cloning and how does it work?

One of the features that really makes Tabula Rasa stand out is the ability to clone your character. Why would you want to do that? As stated in the above question, players are given choices of classes at certain levels. What would've happened if you had gone the other way? Cloning allows you to find out by performing this action before making your choice. Nothing has been discussed as to how this will be limited but from what has been discussed you won't have any of your gear, just another chance at life.
