Stop by Lower Eloh Creek to drop off your River Recon report to Field Sgt. Witherspoon (501.8, 238.3, 215.5), and he'll offer Distress on the River . Surveyor Hugh Corman is at the lower part of Pinhole Falls, and you'll need to grab reports from nearby forean guy and Lt. Wood before reporting back to Lt. Witherspoon at Lower Eloh Creek. When you return, Recon Spec. Jennings offers Hitting 'em Where It Hurts which also pits you against the forces on the opposite side of Eloh Creek. Clear out the Light Bender Trainees in the pillboxes (don't use energy weapons... light benders, get it? :) and then dispatch of one of the two Bane Overseer pops in that general area (I found rifle fire worked best, but it could be my imagination). Turn in those two mission to pick up Rendezvous at the LZ and a much needed rifle upgrade.

If you did your waypoints, it's a simple TP to the LZ. Turn in the report to Outpost Cmdr. Randolph in the command looking building and grab some new boots. There are two new missions to grab in the LZ – Mortar By Numbers from Aviation Coordinator Wagner (195.0, 171.0, -86.8 – on the landing platform mid-base) and Dr. Ojy (155.0, 163.0, -93.0) offers Soldier's Blood in the hospital tent. The rewards for both of these missions are a bit dodgy, so you may just want to complete them while you're out and about rather than making a special trip.

Two Pillars

From here, if you make a trip to Imperial Valley, you'll find a number of new mission givers awaiting you. Imperial Valley [CP]: Assault Tokens and  Imperial Valley [CP]: Defense Tokens . I didn't receive any tokens while killing Bane around the base, so thise might be part of a live event or future addition to the game. You'll also get Walking Wounded which will take you back to Ranja Gorge through the caverns escorting an injured soldier, but first grab Logos: Area behind the base at -432.2, -595.2.

At Ranja, you can get To The Caves from Council Elder Nula – a recon mission for the instanced Caves of Donn near mid-map, Centrifuge Fuel – a mission that will take you into the Crater Lake Research Facility instance, and Sacs and Violence – requiring you to clean out the Filthik egg sacs in the Ranja caves. While you're here, you might as well do Hoping for the Best , which involves talking to the residents of Ranja (with silver walkie talkies) in a specific order – Quincy Corman, Sten Corman, George Corman, Eleanor Corman, and finally Franja Corman up near Enigma Falls. She offers The Dead Live , another mission for Crater Lake. Wander up into the Caverns to do Sacs and Violence and upgrade your pistol – the Filthik Hive Monarch won't prove to be much of a challenge now.

If you're up for a run, port to LZ and cross the length of the map to visit Daghda's Urn to the far north. Grabbing this waypoint will earn you the title of Wilderness Wanderer and you'll probably earn level 10 right about now, too. Congrats! In Daghda's, you'll find Xanx for the Memories from Apprentice Juvak (-634.5, 274.8, 847.3), and learn from the council elder that the Urn is actually a cavern below the village. Proceed to the north to get the last Logos you can get without doing an instance: Logos: Here at -974.0, 284.0, 744.2), earning the title of Wilderness Mentalist. Click on the forcefield to gain entrance. Exploring the Urn below, you'll find that while it might be a sacred place to the Foreans, it's not much use to the AFS.

So from here, you've got some options:

  1. Going solo – Do some housecleaning with remaining missions like Machinations and Mortar by Numbers, go into the Xanx area just north of mid-map and see how much you can raise you're experience modifier as you go on a killing spree. If you're the sort that likes to grind, see how many of those Wilderness Targets of Opportunity objectives you can pick off. Folks reportedly solo Pravus at level 11, so you might try giving that a shot – what's the harm in dying, really? Or, if you like, you can use some of those crafting components you've been hoarding in your footlocker and try some crafting. But sooner or later, you really ought to...
  2. Team up! - Most or all of the goodies are best earned with a group at level 10, plus it can definitely make for a much more fun experience than going it alone. Pravus Research offers Logos: Communication , Logos: Control , and Logos: Machine , Crater Lake has Logos: Movement , Logos: Around , and Logos: Chaos – and both offer a ton of experience and mission rewards. Don't forget Arioch's Lair for Xanx for the Memories to the north, which will reward you with a nice set of chest armor, and the Caves of Donn with Logos: Feeling and Logos: Trap as another instance to explore.

If you've roughly followed this walkthrough, here's the quests you have remaining for each area and instance (note that there may be more, be sure to have your team share missions when heading into an instance).

Instance (Caves of Donn)

  • Logos: Feeling, Trap
  • To the Caves

Instance (Crater Lake Research Facility)

  • Logos: Movement, Around, Chaos
  • The Dead Live
  • Centrifuge Fuel

Instance (Pravus Research)

  • Logos: Communication, Control, Machine

Final Tips

Ensine is Great Experience!

  • Neither money nor ammo grow on trees. While chainguns are, yes, very cool, single shot weapons (especially rifles, but handguns and shotguns too) give you the most bang for the buck (pun intended). Use the other types of weaponry... not so much sparingly, but purposefully, so you have credit to buy better armor, weapons, and other gear.
  • Unless you're in a group or of such a level where you really have no business being in Wilderness, you probably can't take on Archfiend (who wanders the woods near Lake Tinctuan).
  • Use sprint (when you don't foresee needing a Logos ability) to cut down on time in transit while running between locations.
  • Be sure to train up your abilities and attributes constantly. You can always change how you're spec'd next level.

What's next?

Concordia Divide is the next battlefield you'll explore once you've done all that you want to do in Wilderness, and what a divided battlefield it is. In a sort of Starship Troopers meets World War I, both sides have dug in deep to fight it out. Can you tip the balance in favor of the AFS?
