Network Fast Forward: 2008 Ten Ton Hammer Preview

Posted December 30th, 2007 by Ralsu

The year new has begun, and gamers have a lot of titles to anticipate. 2008 will see the launch of Pirates of the Burning Sea, Age of Conan, and Warhammer Online to name just a few of the headlining titles. This year will also be another banner year for Ten Ton Hammer. We've got some exciting things in store for readers, and I've got the 2008 preview to whet your appetite.

Pirates of the Burning Sea sets sail in January 2008.

Continuing News Coverage
Ten Ton Hammer will continue to cover the biggest stories, events, and games this year. Jeff "Ethec" Woleslagle brought us the scoop on Kohnke v Perpetual. Who will win? Was Perpetual caught with a hand in the cookie jar? Will Star Trek Online ever see the light of day? Even if it does, can it ever live up to expectations? We'll also be keeping a close eye on Stargate Worlds from Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment. We think the game carries a lot of promise and can't wait to learn more.

For some reason, you keep reading it. And for that reason, John Boomjack" Hoskin keeps writing it. Loading... has over 735 columns at the time I write this. The current format brings you an editorial or some breaking news about the gaming industry and links to all of the latest guides and content at Ten Ton Hammer all in one clean document. Readers at work, please note that Boomjack keeps it mostly text-based so it's not obvious that you're goofing off on company time! Sign up to get Loading... in your inbox today!

The Most Content in One Location
At the time I write this, the Ten Ton Hammer network had produced 227 articles in December. That's articles folks--guides, walkthroughs, interviews, and the occasional opinion piece. That doesn't even count the news. We challenge readers to find another network that produces so much content. Seriously, if you find it, shoot us a link so that we can go read it!

More Bang for the Buck
Our Premium Membership program continues to grow, and we'll be working on more ways to bring fringe benefits to members. Most of that stuff is classified for now, but I can promise that we're continually looking at ideas for contests, and premium members usually get more chances to win cool prizes. In December, we gave away a lot of free game time for Neocron 2, rewarded creative readers for their holiday jingles in the form of free game cards, and even gave away free signed copies of EverQuest and EverQuest 2. I'm already working on contests for 2008, so be looking for more chances to win awesome swag!

Ten Ton Hammer Store
Speaking of swag, look for the Ten Ton Hammer Store to expand in 2008. Boomjack already has readers working on ideas for Loading... shirts, and I wouldn't be shocked to find some more Ten Ton Hammer branded merchandise in our store as the year progresses. The Ten Ton Hammer Store is also where readers can purchase the Premium Memberships that give them more chances to win our contests.

New Sites on the Network

The Warhammer tabletop experience could land on your desktop as early as June 2008.

Having just launched in December 2007, Tentonhamster.com will grow in 2008, and I won't be shocked to here from my bosses that it is outperforming the sites for adults soon. The massively-multiplayer online gaming (MMOG) market for young teens is growing by leaps and bounds. So parents who read our sites, get your children over to Ten Ton Hamster to learn about family-friendly and (often times) free ways to share your love of gaming together.

In addition to Ten Ton Hamster, we'll be launching our Age of Conan site in 2008. Ten Ton Hammer wants to be your #1 source for news and guides for this groundbreaking game. The world has waited long enough for the MMOG that would earn a mature rating, and Age of Conan will be here in March. We're already in the process of finding exactly the right community manager to run this important site. Whether its one of our current veteran writers or a new person with a passion for the title, you can bet you'll find more guides at Ten Ton Hammer than anywhere else.

Finally, our Warhammer Online site is already live, but with the game set to launch in the summer, expect Brock "Brokain" Ferguson to be working especially hard to give you all the information you need to start your epic journey. With a legion of fans who have invested in the tabletop experience, Warhammer Online is assured a niche success, but can the game reach the mainstream market? Keep your eye on Brokain's work and find out!

Parting Thoughts
If 2007 was a big year for Ten Ton Hammer, then expect 2008 to be even bigger. I haven't even touched on the many interviews, exclusive screens and videos, and articles covering the MMOG industry's biggest events that we'll be bringing you this year. Just keep on reading. We've got a lot in store for you!
