How big is the
A: Big. There are three nations and the Barachan Isles in the game. The goal for Funcom, however, has been to create a world that’s filled with detail and content, not to create a gargantuan empty world. There is 185 square miles of land.
Q: What are the three nations in the game?
A: The three nations are Aquilonia, Stygia, and Cimmeria. Each posseses its own flavor in style.
Q: What are the differences between the nations?
A: Aquilonia has been likened to ancient Greece and the Roman empire. Cimmeria is wild and inhospitable, with deep forests, mountains and valleys. Sygia is likened to ancient Egypt.
Q: Is the world seamless or separated into zones?
A: The world is separated into zones, or regions. Some of the regions are quite large though, covering many square kilometers.
Q: What kind of variety is there in the regions?
A: There are regions of all kinds; snowy regions, desert regions, mountains, swamps, plains, highlands and lowlands.
Q: In what setting does the game take place?
A: The game takes place in Hyboria, which is a fictional representation of earth in the year 10,000 B.C. It is low-fantasy, meaning you won’t be playing as an elf or fairy. Conan is the King of Aquilona at this time.
Q: What kind of travel is available?
A: You can travel between regions by foot, boat, and mount. Depending on where you are and where you’re travelling to, some of the options may not be available.
Q: How static are the computer controlled characters?
A: The NPCs in “Age of Conan” have been programmed with a “needs based” artificial intelligence. They will need to eat, sleep, and defend themselves like all other inhabitants of Hyboria. You will see them going to bed at night, or defending themselves against an attack.

A: The official Age of Conan site has a lot of content about various creatures and regions in the game.
