It's always sad to see a game go, but it seems that Pirates of the Caribbean Online is pulling into port one last time in September. At that time, Captain Jack and crew sail off into the wild blue yonder, forever.

September 19th, 2013 is when Pirates of the Caribbean Online walks the plank for the last time. Luckily, players can enjoy the benefit of free unlimited access (presumably) for everyone as one final goodwill gesture by our Mickey Mouse Overlords.

There is some good news for pirates that paid good plunder for the game, refunds will be available including for unused time cards bought at your local pharmacy. Free game access lasts until the servers go dark, so everyone can enjoy one last rampage through the open seas.

The closure is not entirely unexpected. the game hasn't done all that well and hasn't been a very profitable MMO for Disney. When that happens, the inevitable server shutdown often follows. It has been a rather long run, so if you haven't had a chance to play as of yet, now is the perfect time to see what the game is all about before it sunsets this September.
