Rogue Class Guide - Abilities/Talents/Poisons

Rogue Ability / Poison / Talent Lists

The abilities are learned from the different class trainers in the World of Warcraft. These abilities help the rogue in combat, by damaging the opponent or, letting the rogue escape. Some of the Combat abilities add what is called a combo point. This combo system allows the rogue to store up combo points and use them to unleash massive amounts of damage, with the finishing assassination abilities .The way it works is, for every time you hit your enemy with an attack that provides a combo point a red dot appears beside there picture at the top of your screen. Up to a maximum of 5 red dots can be added. When you use an assassination finishing move the more combo points you have collected, the greater the damage done to your opponent.

Due to the size and complexity of the tables code to display the spells they can be found here:

Additionally, we have a listing of the available poisons right here:

2 points: (269+rwb) - (269+RWB) damage
3 points: (374+rwb) - (374+RWB) damage

5 points: (584+rwb) - (584+RWB) damage

Costs 35 Energy

Anesthetic Poison
Poisons
68

Cloak of Shadows
Sublety
68

Instantly removes all existing harmful spell effects and increases your chance to resist all spells by 90% for 5 sec. Does not remove effects that prevent you from using Cloak of Shadows.

Has a 1 minute cooldown

Shiv
Combat
70

Performs an instant off-hand weapon attack that automatically applies the poison from your off-hand weapon to the target. Slower weapons require more Energy. Awards 1 combo point.

Costs anywhere from 23 to 40 Energy depending on how fast your Offhand is

As you can see, the big upgrades from 60 to 70 are mostly Deadly Throw and Cloak of Shadows. Deadly Throw is excellent to take out runners, and invaluable in PvP when people try to get range away from you - this, however, forces you to have thrown weapons in your ranged slot. It is ideal to find a good thrown weapon to use, since Deadly Throw will always be of use to you when you least expect it, especially when fighting Humanoids.

There are many Throwing Weapons in the Burning Crusade dungeons waiting to be found, as well as at least 4 of them through Questing across the zones. Using them instead of a gun, bow or crossbow is recommended to have access to Deadly Throw, regardless of your spec.

Cloak of Shadows is the other big skill you gain. Formerly a 41-point Talent, this is now a base skill and will allow you to evade monsters and players trying to DoT you up or use many spells on you. Using this, along with Evasion and any other cooldowns you may have will let you win battles you never thought possible. It's also extremely handy to use when being chased by spellcasters and you want to get rid of their DoTs on you and Vanish.

Envenom should be left for those Rogues who like using Poisons and went far down the Assassination tree to improve their poison damage, however, it is still not very comparable to the other finishers such as Rupture and Eviscerate due to the fact it will also consume your Deadly Poison applications.

Anesthetic Poison is useless at this point in time. While it was originally intended to be used alongside Shiv and with Poison Specialization, Anesthetic Poison causes no extra threat from the poison damage. Your base damage will be way higher so it will not really buy you any more leeway in doing your normal DPS - it is just a weaker form of Instant Poison. Until Blizzard revamps it, stay away from this kind of poison.

Shiv is the final skill we will review - it is mostly intended for use with Daggers, and is a little use as of this moment in time. Costing 23 energy if you have a good offhand, an instant attack from your offhand will not really be that much damage, an application might be nice if you're running Poison Skills, but in the end, Combat Specialization will not be outshined by Assassination unless you have great gear.

Mists of Pandaria's launch could happen by the end of the year so what better time to look at what the Collector's Edition could contain?

I finally got myself a Razor Naga (Molten Edition)!

About a year ago, I really wanted a naga mouse for my birthday. However, my girlfriend goes to BestBuy and the jerk working there tells her that I wouldn't like the naga because its too hard to push the buttons on the side. He told her to get me the World of Warcraft mouse (Cataclysm Edition).
