Running the TenTonHammer Database Mod on a Mac

We have had quite a few requests for information on how to run our database utility on a Mac. The simple answer is, unfortunately, that you can't. The utility itself is a PC only application and will likely stay that way for a long time to come.

However, there is a way to still capture data and contribute to the database while playing WoW on a Mac. It is only possible if you also own a PC though. Our programmers filled me in on this method while I was busy complaining about the lack of a Mac version. It suits my needs since I have a PC around as well, and I thought it might serve some of your needs as well.

Installation Instructions

1) Install Chronos Mod on your Mac as a prerequisite. It can be found in our UI Mod repository here: http://wow.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=TTHUIRepository&func=displayI&pinUIID=96

2) Install the TenTonHammer Database utility on your PC. It can be found here: http://wow.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=TTHQuestDatabase

3) On your PC, go into the World of Warcraft directory and locate and copy the TenTonHammer mod folder. It will be created at c:\program files\world of warcraft\interface\addons\tentonhammer. Copy the whole folder and place it in the same place on your Mac.

4) Startup WoW and go to the AddOns screen (found as a small button in the lower left on your character select screen) and ensure that both Chronos and TenTonHammer are checked and no errors are showing.

Data Collection Instructions

Nothing special to do here. Just play the game on your Mac and you will be collecting data!

Data Submission Instructions

Here is where you need that PC again. I will outline what I do, but you can easily replace the USB memory stick with a diskette, CD-RW, Network connection or whatever else you choose to move the files with.

1) When done playing WoW on your Mac go into the finder and copy your WTF folder from under the World of Warcraft directory to a USB memory stick.

2) Go to your PC and ensure any previous WTF folder is deleted from WoW and put the new one in its place.

3) Start up the TenTonHammer utility on the PC and press Go.

You have now uploaded all of the data that you collected on your Mac to us, via your PC. While it does add a few steps it is the only current way to contribute from a Mac. I have been using this method without any issue for the last few weeks.

There have been many rumblings from Blizzard fans that don't really want Mists of Pandaria as the next (or any expansion) and ask the question "Why Mop?"

Mists of Pandaria's launch could happen by the end of the year so what better time to look at what the Collector's Edition could contain?

I finally got myself a Razor Naga (Molten Edition)!

About a year ago, I really wanted a naga mouse for my birthday. However, my girlfriend goes to BestBuy and the jerk working there tells her that I wouldn't like the naga because its too hard to push the buttons on the side. He told her to get me the World of Warcraft mouse (Cataclysm Edition).
