The Sunwell Isle (also known as the Isle of Quel'Danas) will be a new 'hub' for questing and adventuring when Patch 2.4 goes live. Featuring new daily quests, a 5-man dungeon and a 25-man dungeon, this is the first outdoor area to ever be implemented through a patch.

We will briefly cover the new attractions in this first guide, and see just what we can expect from the Sunwell Isle come patch day.

History

The Isle of Quel'danas is located off the northern coast of Eversong Woods, this was the location of the Sunwell since the foundation of the elven capital of Quel'thalas, hence being named the Sunwell Isle.

This isle came into attack by Prince Arthas when he was corrupted as a Death Knight, and as he made his way through elven lands (evident by the presence of the Dead Scar in Eversong Woods), he corrupted the Sunwell in order to resurrect Kel'thuzad the Lich. After this, the island was abandoned... until now.

Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider, driven mad by his lust for power, has reactivated the Sunwell and is seeking to summon his master, the demon Kil'jaeden, into the world.

The Sha'tar have noted Prince Kael'thas intentions, and have rallied both the Aldor and the Sctyers into a unified army, sending them to the Sunwell Isle to stop Kael'thas's scheme. This army is known as the Shattered Sun Offensive, and has began to retake the island from Kael'thas's minions.

New Dungeons

Sunwell Isle contains 2 new dungeons, one for 5 people, and one for a 25-man raid.

The 5-man dungeon is called "Magister's Terrace", and contains 4 bosses. Defeating these bosses will yield loot rivaling Karazhan Gear, especially if done on Heroic Mode.

Bosses within this instance include Selin Fireheart, a demon that resembles the Kalithresh fight from Steamvault, Vexallus, a fight resembling the Curator's from Karazhan, Priestess Delrissa, resembling Moroes's encounter in Karazhan, and finally Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider, in his corrupted form. He will have abilities similar to the ones some players have already experienced from Tempest Keep.

It is estimated to take 1 to 2 hours to complete with a good group setup.

As an interesting tidbit, defeating Kael'thas in Heroic Mode has him have a small chance of dropping an epic ground mount - a Swift White Hawkstrider. Uniquely coloured, both Alliance and Horde may ride it no matter what race you are.

The 25-man dungeon is called "Sunwell Plateau", and is the newest raid instance and natural progression from the Black Temple. It contains 6 new bosses, which include:

Kalecgos & Sathrovarr the Corruptor, Kalecgos being mind-controlled like Vaelastrasz by the Dreadlord Sathrovarr

Brutallus, a giant Pit Lord

Felmyst, a new type of monster, a Fel Dragon

Ladry Sacrolash & Grand Warlock Alythess (Eredar Twins)

M'uru, the corrupted naaru taken by Kael'thas

And finally, Kil'jaeden himself as the final boss. It is confirmed that players will not fight him at his full power, since he will not have been summoned completely into the world yet when players fight him, however, it is not known if he will be simply vanquished or halted in his advance to destroy Azeroth.

Daily Quests

There are over 10 new Daily Quests to do in the Sunwell Isle, making sense to bump the Daily Quest Limit to 25 in the new Patch, however, there's also a quest chain needed to unlock Heroic Difficulty in Magister's Terrace.

Heroic Magister's Terrace Quests

Quests needed are:

1. Crisis at the Sunwell (Aldor) / Duty Calls (Scryer) - Go talk to your Aldor or Scryer Representative in the Sunwell Isle. Obtained from either the Aldor or Scryer tier.

2. Magister's Terrace - You must find Tyrith, a Blood Elf Spy within the Magister's Terrace.

3. The Scryer's Scryer - Tyrith will ask you to use his orb on the balcony at the Magister's Terrace.

4. Hard to Kill - Kalecgos will ask for you to kill Kael'thas Sunstrider. Completing it will yield you a choice of 3 epic gems, and the ability to enter the Magister's Terrace Heroic Mode.

The Sunwell Isle will be a great addition for people feeling bored with the usual dungeons and needing more money from Daily Quests. Keep an eye out for new information coming out as the patch looms closer - this will be a great patch for both casual and hardcore players alike!
