Weekly Clan News

MEH - The members of MEH would like to share a few things with the community this week.

MEH reached its first member milestone this week with the addition of its 50th member. Over the last few weeks the guild has gone from strength to strength and the Council would like to not only welcome the new members but also thank them for there continued support.

The forums have been a hub of activity recently with useful information and speculations about AOC. The members contributing experiance from previous games making the MEH forums a base for a lot of info for the future.

I personally wish all applicants all the luck with there impending trials as we all look forward to launch.

Lastly there's a Clan Meeting coming up:

MEH GUILD MEETING

Date: 21/04/08

Time: 19:00 GMT

Members of MEH will be gathering in teamspeak in the evening of the 21st to meetup and discuss the future of the guild. With just a single month till launch the guild will be focusing on how we will deal with the first few weeks after release. It will also address how MEH will progress ingame and the council will release details on features that will be available to the members.

The guild is progressing nicely and this meeting is to also allow the members to all have a general chat and get to know eachother before launch. At the end of the meeting there will be a questions section for members who wish to ask specific questions of the council that might not have been able to be answered before. This is currently a one off meeting however if successful it may be a regular feature in the MEH Calender.

The Brotherhood of the Spider - We have a brand spanking new recruitment video all set up for your viewing pleasure. You can view and download the WMV file HERE.

In other gaming news, I'd like to congratulate our WoW division for taking down Felmyst, and our Vanguard division for being the first to get a Wyvern Egg for the flying mount. Great job, guys!

The Exodus Syndicate - As a final test regarding our activity and dedication, we gave our members only 24h to get on Vent for a meeting. Now we´re usually around 50 ppl on Vent at the same time though now we broke all records and got 90 ppl on which in the mmo world is a spectacular feat. It has taken alot of hard work to get where we are right now but it´s definately worth it.

We recently posted this in the Town Cryer regarding our recruitment:

"Greetings all,

Our presence here will soon reach 1.5 years and it´s been a great ride. So many spectacular members have joined and I´ve never seen such dedication and honor in a guild as what we have right now. We´re at a point where we´re very satisfied with our size and structure and will on the 20th of April close our open recruitment to focus solely internally to further build on the great platform that we stand. Only personal invites will be handed out after April 20th.

At this point, we would like to thank Funcom and the community team for managing these forums along with all the great fansites and guilds out there that we will ruff n tumble with for years to come, cause without a game and competition there can be winners.

That said, thank you all and we´ll see you in Hyboria with weapons held high. We will always remember the pre-launch forums with positive feelings and a sense of pride. Well met in Hyboria!"

Question of the Week

This week's question is a light-hearted one...

What's the Funniest or Oddest Experience You've Ever Had as a Clan?

Cogent had this to say:

One of the funniest moments in Cogent history, came on the guilds 1st anniversary. Of course we through a Big Party, with duels, prizes, drinking, & all the usual tom-foolery. But the best part had to have been....the "Naked Foot Races"!

We started in Dark Shire and ran all the way through Stranglethorn Vale, to Booty Bay! Of course we were on a PvP server. The Horde didn't know whether to laugh or to get some free PvP kills. So they did both. When we all made it to Booty Bay, Cogent suited up, and exacted our revenge on those poor, poor unfortunate Hordies!

It was truly a site to behold, 50+ Naked Cogent, streaking through Azeroth!

Brotherhood of the Spider sent this little tidbit in:

Actually, every day seems to bring a funny and/or odd experience to us since a good number of us hang out on vent and shoot the breeze while we are playing other games and planning for AoC. As far as THE funniest or oddest experience...that is classified. Maybe after you buy me a few pitchers of mead I can be talked into sending you the link to the secret Ventrilo recordings.

The Forsaken tell this tale:

As with all good guilds that are planing to be more on the edge than the rest, good communications between themselves is crucial. Setting up a Guild site is a start. Forums, ingame chat and so on is great as well. But when the going gets tough, the tough ones use Teamspeak or Ventrilo.

Ideally, you'd want a dedicated server with a static IP for your guilds Teamspeak. Luckily for us, we had Vard who works as a Tech Support for a broadband company in Norway who just happend to have a tiny laptop just standing at his desk. Since he was working evenings that week, the server went up at about 21:30, and lots of guild members joined to celebrate. Peaking up to 10 members on the server at around 22:00, everything seemed fine and Vard went home for the day.

5 minutes later, the server goes down. Laptop went into hibernation.

Frustration and laughter combined our irc-channel and, fearing that we'd be without a teamspeak for the weekend, Crewl took action. Being a swede, ofcourse having no clue what the norwegian yellow pages are called and barely having an idea of Vards real name went into cia-mode and gathered his name, adress and eventually his cell number.

Now, imagine Vard in his car on his way home after a long day at work mid-winter, music on the loudest setting, getting a buzz on his cell from a completely unknown number, not to mention with +46 at the start. "THE SERVER WENT INTO HIBERNATION! CAN YOU GO BACK AND FIX IT? /CREWL"

Being a faithful Forsaken, he actually turned the car around and set the server back up. It's still up now and frequently used by our guild.

Fade to Darkness put it simply:

We have got some pretty funny kills on eachother in Counter Strike. Odd nade throws and such.

Vigor Mortis leaves much to the imagination:

The funniest or the oddest experience my clan has had must've been the LAN party we had last week.

Barbarians of Ironwolf give us this little tale:

In Dungeons and Dragons online there was a time when we where doing a huge Titan. This raid was very very tough and now many had beaten it before.

Well we where all very excited when we came close to killing him, yelling on ventrillo and everything...then all of a sudden he just took a step and froze. Like this gigantic thing ran out of batteries of something. So here we are about to beat this huge raid for the first time and he freezes. We joked around for awhile, many wanted to leave but I encouraged them to stick it out , he'll recharge and come back. I had no clue if he would or not but being leader you want to keep your group motivated. He finally came alive after 32 minutes... and we finished him off. But it was a very strange feeling 32 minutes that happened to be a good bonding time for the guild.

Cleaning Up

That's it for this week. I hope you've all had your fill. Remember, we're always accepting new members and all you have to do is follow the instructions found on this page. And don't forget to check out the Clan Registry to get a look at all the clans in one heaping mound of goodness! There's tons of new banners viewable there, so go take a look!

Until next week, eat well fellow Hyborians!
