Breaking Patch Notes Into Bite Sized Pieces

by: Taea

The development team for Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa is always working to improve the game. This is evidenced in the latest patch, 1.7, to hit the Live servers today. There is a lot to read in the notes, so Ten Ton Hammer has broken down the most important things players need to know.

Even in the AFS, women are trying to be on the cutting edge of fashion. Female avatars are being adjusted to be, well, cuter. Currently the female avatar attack stance has been adjusted from the male models. Motor Assist armor has been optimized to give women a better look. More armor set adjustments to come in the future.

Radial and Conical Tools were combined into one Area tool type. Not all of your old Radial and Conical Tools made the conversion so easily, and some are non-functioning. In addition, self targeting for heals and repairs was changed. Specialists must now use the F or Melee key to use a tool on themselves. Using F or Melee does not automatically reload the tool. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Blue and Purple tools have been added to the loot table. If you find any good ones, go ahead and send those over to Taea on the Pegasus server.

Pharmaceuticals have acquired a new icon in your backpack, and you may want to try dragging them around for a little surprise. Many items have a new audio tone when used.

If you give a Bane a cookie, he’ll get pissed and call his friends. Social aggro, also known as the Bring-A-Friend mechanic is in place: Attack with caution. At the outset the mechanic was still a little buggy, with cries of players pulling 20+ mobs on themselves. In unrelated news, hospital medics have reported a sudden shortage of Trauma Kits.

The range at which the Bane detect you has been reduced 20%, but they are now significantly more angry when they do spot you. Expect faster reaction times, ie: more boom, from enemy combatants.

Now I see them, now they’re dead. Line of Sight issues have been fixed on a large number of enemy models. Blast away.

Pet classes will find that points placed into Mind will become a damage bonus for their pets. Expect CPs to be swarmed with players hoping to earn Respec tokens.

Rangers have been reinvented. Stealth Armor actually does something now. Fire Support replaces Carpet Bombing, Spotter replaces Reinforcements, Tactical Evasion replaces Polarity Field, which has been given to the Spies to replace Mag Flash. Spies also got an adjustment to Cloak Wave to hide groups from the Bane while shedding aggro, making the Spy and squad invisible to PvP targets.

The greatly improved Ranger and Spy skills mean that their Blades had to be dulled to make them less than uber. And there was much complaining…

Game tips have been added to the bottom of the Loading screens. The big map screen how lists level ranges of the various zones. Buff and Debuff icons on your screen show a new effect to help gauge how long they will last.

The Target Reticule is larger and brighter. Target lock now has a shiny animated circle on the reticule, and the target itself has a flashing glow to help it stand out. The radar mini map has a new icon to show the locked target. Players report the gray outer circle that used to indicate ammo count on the weapon is gone.

More bug fixes than you can shake a Staff at. A few that stood out are:

  • Fixed bug that displayed html code in Bootcamp Last Stand mission: reported that one myself a bunch of times.
  • Fixed a crafting bug that was preventing players from adding a fourth modification to blue or purple armor.
  • Fixed an issue if you are running the client in full screen mode and alt tab during a loading screen, the game may crash. And the kids in the house will now learn less profanities.
  • Mission: Provision Procurement: Eloh Vale, Palisades Instance: Mission Objectives now share for squads. Please, please, please pass this feature on to many more missions. Start with Maligo Base.
