Day in the Life at NCsoft Austin

Next-Gen visited the offices of NCsoft Austin, with the dust from Tabula Rasa’s launch settling, to meet the people who maintain online worlds. The administrative hub of several massively-multiplayer online worlds, they were able to observe the daily operations.

The GMs sit in parallel rows that cut diagonally across a large open-plan space, each with their own specialized role. “Steven over there tests missions and knows how things should work in insane detail, it’s hard to get him to look up sometimes – we call him the machine; he calls himself a slacker,” continues Leverett. “Here, Jimmy’s just working through a few tickets, this next guy’s more familiar with Chinese IP addresses than he’d like to be, and so on.”


Years have passed since the cancellation of Tabula Rasa, but some fans still want the game back.
