New Members of the Soup

The Power Empire - Clan Website

The Power Empire is an online community that was founded in 1995. Its members have played numerous MMORPG for over a decade from Ultima Online to Age of Conan. TPE is more than a gaming guild, its a community. We strive to be the best but we know how to have fun. Information is power so we work together to achieve our goals.

In age of conan our goal is to be the best and the first to major server achievements. We will draw on our experienced members to help new players integrate into our community. Not only do we look to better ourselves but to assist the community with guides, tips and hints onto our website. If your wanting to be one of the first to explore all areas of the game then look no further than TPE.

Aegis Of The Keep - Clan Website

Our clan has been specifically set up for age of conan and we have a lot of experienced gamers both in leading clans and playing mmo's. Whilst we are serious about our clan we are having fun in running it. Having said this we are planning on experiencing all aspects that Age of Conan has to offer. The clan as a whole is realistic in that we don't brag about being the best clan on the server we merly aim to be the best for our clan. You could say by trying to be the best for our clan then the clan itself will be one of the best.

Mythos - Clan Website

Mythos is a PvP/PvE guild that will be on a PvP server. We are a closely knit group and are dedicated to end game content. We are also interested in siege warfare and can't wait to do everything Age of Conan has to offer.

Sanguis Attexo - Clan Website

We are Sanguis Attexo, a guild for those wanting more out of being in a guild. We are euro situated at around GMT+1, we're going for a RP-PVP server and we're doing light RP, but RP is not needed. But respect the roleplayers! We have a hierarchy system, a guildbank system, a guild lore set up that also will evolve during play, a voting system, a splendid and well-functional web page, and soon guild crafting service system in our web page, and later we will add a DKP system for high level raiding. We have some important positions to hand out to the befitting new members. Detailed information about how we organize ourselves, and what structure we wish to use are all available on the website. We use a channel on IRC, Teamspeak (members only), and xfire. Axilya is our guild leader and head reqruiter, enter our website, join us, and progress!

Fallen Wild - Clan Website

Fallen Wild started life as a Counter Strike Source Clan in January of
this year but after nearly ten years of CS the Clan's founder and driving
force, Symon 'Death Jester' Gray introduced the rest of the admin team to
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Most of us had played various MMO's
over the years, so we all thought we knew what to expect. . . . Boy were
we wrong. Here we are four months later with a great website and over
fourty, active members. It's been a lot of fun and hard work but May 23rd
should make it all worth while.

Weekly Clan News

Sol Invictus - The last few weeks of Sol Invictus have been a bit rocky. After learning what the FFA-PvP servers would entitle and what we see for those servers have made us change our focus from a FFA-pvp server to a PvE server. We feel that the PvE server will give us enough fun in the PvP scene to keep us busy and occupied. Our main focus will remain PvP / PvE. Due to that we would also like to announce that Trover one of our promising members has taken up the job as second Raid Leader for Sol Invictus. So welcome to him.

We are planning for a meeting on 11/05 and that will be the last one before release. The guild is hyped about getting started and to make a name for ourselves in the harsh world of Hyboria.

The Old Timers Guild - Due to the response of people wishing to join the guild we would like to let people know that we are going to stop processing new member applications on the 14th. This will last for 10 days so that as a guid we can meet the needs of our current members. We will still take a new application however we will not be looking at them again till the 24th.

The 3305 Local - We'd like you to meet some of the officers that will be helping 3305
Local's launch into Age of Conan.

Our guildleader, Darkmenace, will have the greatest of honors by leading
our band of marauders deep into the mountains of Cimmeria and carve out a
proud city and naturally build a battle keep.

Together with the members of 3305 and veteran advisors, Xaielao (Adjutant),
Sefus (HR), Voidlox (Military) and drawing heavily on the support of
Elckerlijc (City Planning and Engineering) and Moon (Recruitment) to
continue the fight our ancestors started to abolish slavery in Hyboria.

If you'd like to know more, then we invite you to meet us on our forums.

Brotherhood of the Spider - Just a reminder to any North American PvE guilds: If you would like to avoid a stagnant, boring server join us by joining a competitive server on launch day. Send Notleh a PM on the TTH forums.

Question of the Week

This week, I asked the Clans a very dividing question...

How’s Your Clan Been Enjoying the Open Beta So Far?

While the Open Beta period for Age of Conan started a bit rocky thanks to some pretty painful bugs, the client's since been patched up to a much more stable build and now the whole thing's an Open PvP warzone. Here's some of our Clans' thoughts on the matter.

Sol Invictus - Here's some of our members' opinions on their experience so far, though admittedly a lot of the issues have been rectified already.

  • Asjvael: Even though I know it's an open beta, where bug fixing and testing has priority. I am a tad disappointed, I couldn't progress beyond the city of Tortage (and I mean the zone, not the actual city). Every time I logged in, after a minute or 2 my game crashed. Or it crashed right after the loading screen. The Atmosphere was good, the character creation was awesome, even though combat had some bugs in it (like porting mobs) it looked good. To conclude my story: Please, make sure the actual game let's me progress!
  • Elveerdig: Well apart from some bugs and stuff, .I'm really fond of Age of Conan. It's nice to finally touch and smell a bit into the world of Hybyria and so. Too bad that the level 13 PvP is uber unbalanced. But ye a good first impression from me anyway. Thumbs up Funcom!
  • Spire: Even though I had the same problem as Asjveal the first couple of days I can already say: awesome game! At the beginning I was getting more and more frustrated for each time I got a crash. So I was giving up my hope. But after it was solved all of a sudden and i could play properly I can say the following... The character creation is very wide and unique, every single person looks different, which gives you a whole different feeling, it's not like wow where you meet "yourself" 20 times a day. Even though the classes are not completely finished yet, I can already say they are unique unlike other games, and they differ quite a lot from each other. And some are real challenging! Most quests are awesome, and are mostly not farm quests which is good! I get overloaded by quests at least till my lvl. The night/day thing is defo a good idea, but tbh they can add some more stuff to the night quests.

Although the game is HEAVY! can only run it smoothly on low settings, FAIL. And I don't feel like upgrading my pc for only this game, so I will have to play on low settings for some while. I just wished they had the Lotro engine, but they didn't get a license from it. The lotro engine makes playing on very high settings possible with a not to expensive pc, like mine. Well my conclusion stands, I will surely play it. but there are indeed things that have to be fixed. And tbh, I don't think they will make that in 2 weeks, but time will tell and I will keep hoping. And it will definitely be a top game!
  • Rorgeiir: The Open Beta for me was overall a positive experience. I was fortunate not to experience the FPS problems that many others seemed to although I did have to put up with a lot of disconnects and the occasional client crash .. to be expected!

I think of the classes I've leveled I've begun to get a feel for them and I now have a sort of plan for making my way through Tortage and on to my race city. I'm glad the story wasn't blown wide open and I'm looking forward to the next night quest. It's all well and good reading about all the games different systems and dynamics on an FAQ but being able to see them in action before release answered a lot of questions; I can take the bull by the horns a bit easier so to speak.

The biggest problem was the sheer amount of moaners. The term Beta slipped right past them and most of their arguments were based on total ignorance clearly having never played anything other than WoW before. I'm curious if the Open Beta did more damage to the games credibility than it added for a lot of people who just jumped on the bitching bandwagon.
  • Zaxa: My first impression about this game was that the gfx looks great. The game play is nice as well. However the game needs a lot of polishing though. And they need to fix that quest share bug (thanks to Elveerdig for making me crash!) Furthermore the pvp is not much fun when you are playing a caster/tank class vs. rogues. But i guess it will be more balanced endgame.

The Old Timers Guild - I am happy to say that the response from our members has been very positive. Many are now looking to spend the 5 dollars to start the game play on the 17th myself included.

Yes we have seen some griefing and some bugs and issues however none of them have deterred us from wanting to play. The only difficult choice we face now is...

When we order our pizza do we want Mountain Dew or Pepsi?

oh the tough choices one must make!

Varangian Order - How has the Varangian Order been enjoying the Open Beta so far? Great! We’ve been getting together a fair bit on Teamspeak to discuss the beta, with poor plebs like me, who aren’t in the beta, hanging off every word. The only problem is that our beta players don’t actually stop playing to tell us about it. So between discussion on what resource nodes look like, there’s a loud “What the..? Get himmmmm!”. To tell you the truth I think we need a bit an education on adjective use in our guild. To quote those guys from our guild who are playing: “Awesome, it’s awesome, oh you should see us we’re awesome, yeh it’s awesome”.

The funniest story to come out of yesterday’s chat was from Sulgrith, Aroc, and Dakaan who decided to take on the world, or at least, a tiny bit of it, by holding a bridge. They say that all they wanted was a little respect, and that they killed anyone who didn’t pay that respect – about 20 people in all. The story goes that people really started to fear them and that there was regional chat going on telling people to avoid the bridge. The funniest thing was that people started to jump off the cliff to try and get across. And all they had to do was pay a little respect – guess that’s what happens when you’re dealing with PvPers, they’d rather jump off a cliff than role-play a little.

Here is a brief YouTube clip of some of their antics - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlBEWPTdwbI

Note the Tempest almost got the better of them though! I think Funcom needs to implement a few more emotes, namely, “A self congratulatory pat on the back” and “AWESOME”.

Brotherhood of the Spider - Here's some of our members' responses.

  • Aside from technical issues, the open beta has served as an excellent opportunity for the guild to begin accumulating valuable knowledge on the intracacies of each specific class. By having direct experience with the myriad gameplay variations that each class presents within the game, players will be able to garner a higher detail of preference for the class they wish to play.

Furthermore, exploration of the starting area can yield valuable timesaving results during the initial launch of the game. By knowing where to go, who to converse with, and what quests to pick, gamers are easily able to gain a crucial edge in conserving valuable leveling time.

Finally, our guildmembers were able to effectively gauge the performance of the client when running on their system. Loading times, level of detail, and graphical tweaks were all considered. A full spectrum of performance reports was visible; as a result, we are able to better produce smoother gameplay by being educated on the correct settings for each individual system.
  • Its been great its giving many members the knowledge and skill needed to give us a jump.
  • I have a low spec computer and it's lagging a little bit. But other then that even with the lag Age of Conan has been one of the best games ive ever played. Performance issues are easy to fix. amazing graphics and gameplay are not easy to fix. So I believe Funcom did a great job on Age of Conan and I cant wait to play it on the new computer I ordered just because of how much I enjoyed the open beta.

Additionally Open Beta has given BotS a great opportunity to test the game out and see how enjoyable the game is. We had great expectations about this game, and it's fulfilled almost all our expectations about this game's fun factor. Aside from some bugs and some unfinished work some of the classes have, it's been pretty fun to play so far.

We had a the chance to test out different classes and see the different feats all the classes have, and with that we have a greater view on how the classes play and help us decide on which ones we'll create when the game is released.

The PvP experience was pretty fun as well. This game has a huge potential and will attract a lot of people thanks to the well-designed combat system.

Vigor Mortis - Actually, very few people in the guild seemed to want to pay to play an open beta to lvl 13, but those that did buy the game, like our media officer Andy, has been playing it non-stop for quite some time. we do have a couple of people in the closed beta as well, and they are certainly enjoying it.

Gladius - How is Gladius enjoying the Open Beta? Well we are having a blast besides everyone rolling assassins for PVP and making PVP blah. We are having a great time. We have all rolled multiple characters and gotten them to 13. Now we are preparing to enjoy our gift from Funcom this weekend.
