CLAN INTERVIEW - SOL INVICTUS

JoBildo: Let’s get the courtesies out of the way first. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview with us. It’s always great to get to know one of clans a bit more.

Pilgrim: Hi JoBildo, thanks for giving us the opportunity for this interview. It’s a pleasure to do this with a renowned site such as TenTonHammer.

JoBildo: Don’t mention it. Our site would be nothing without the players. You make my job matter. Now, tell us a little bit about SOL INVICTUS.

Pilgrim: Well, Sol Invictus started out roughly 6 months ago between me and Moods (Moods is the co-founder of Sol Invictus). At first we wanted to go for Warhammer Online but in the course of time we changed our focus to Age of Conan. In the beginning it seemed we were making it as a joke guild but it got changed to a guild that seems to be going hardcore in every aspect of the game.

JoBildo: How would you guys classify yourselves? You say hard-core, can you elaborate?

Pilgrim: I would classify us an all round clan. At this point the PvP isn’t really happening on our server but I have a strong confidence it will happen once more guilds get to the higher levels and the battle-keeps start to show up. So at this point we are a PvE guild, raiding when we can and when the PvP happens we will show up.

JoBildo: Sounds good to me. Would you mind sharing how the Clan’s run? What’s the leadership like, and how do you guys delegate authority to your members?

Pilgrim: We have a pretty simple structure for Sol Invictus. We have two GM’s (Moods and Me), then 4 archetype leaders who handle our recruitment and check on the members to make sure all is going as planned. And then we have two Raid Leaders who will be running the PvE and PvP raids.

As for me I am more of the friendly type of leader with the will to be the Number One guild. You could I suppose compare me with Churchill; I am willing to sacrifice a lot to get to the finish line as first. For me getting the Server First, and the goals accomplished are things that mean a lot.

JoBildo: How many people are currently registered as members of Sol Invictus?

Pilgrim: We currently have roughly 40 core members and then roughly the same amount of casuals. The core members are the ones who get the first spot for the PvE raids, the casuals are friends of the members, old friends from previous games. We are trying to keep the guild small so that we know our members and we will have it easy.

Keeping the guild small at times might be a problem, for example when we are trying to get the materials for the guild it will take a bit longer then a guild with 150+ members. So that could be something that might be a problem, but I am confident we will make it happen.

JoBildo: What about events? They’re something that’s becoming more of a standard in terms of guilds. You know hosting events on their respective servers. Is that something SOL INVICTUS ever does?

Pilgrim: At this moment we aren’t taking the leading role in organizing server events. We are busy with getting the raids going for Sol Invictus. At this point we have the crew going for it and it’s a fun thing happening. Due to the nature of the guild it might be hard to get us involved in any server events or to organize them. But who knows with the new plans Funcom has put out with the latest newsletter it might change a lot.

JoBildo: Can you tell us what exactly it takes to become one of the SOL INVICTUS? What’s required of a prospective member?

Pilgrim: We are currently recruiting 3 or 4 more new recruits to fill up spots for people who, in the end didn’t like the game, got caught up with real life and the likes (that will always happen). So if you are on Dagon and need a guild and you fall into our spot go for it! As for what we require from members, we ask them to be level 80 and to be self-sustained and be raid hungry.

Once you have put up the application and we feel you are ready for a spot in the Sol Invictus Environment your Archetype leader will contact the new recruit and setup a meeting on Vent where we will iron out the last few questions and see in the end if it will work out. Once you pass that you will get the invite and you will be on a 2 week trial. After that you will get your proper rank within the clan.

JoBildo: Alright, that pretty much concludes the interview. Thanks so much Pilgrim for taking the time to answer these questions and letting the community know everything they could want to know about SOL INVICTUS. It’s been a pleasure.

Pilgrim: Thanks for the time for the interview JoBildo. I had a lot of fun with it. I hope that everyone will have as much fun with AoC as we are having with it at this point.
