About This List
Please refer to the Top Ten Free-to-Play Games Portal to find out how to get a game you make or like on this list.

Week in Review
Just a little changed this week, and most of that in the bottom five slots. Notably, Warrior Epic climbed back up to #7 because the folks at Possibility Space are starting to give out more Closed Beta invitations. This is a good sign for progress in the game.

I finally got a chance to play Rakion this week. This game is a slick player-vs-player (PvP) battle royale. The tutorial is awesome and really gives players a feel for the combat. After that, however, players find themselves in a lobby where they can make or join games. They can make a mission game to complete a quest, or they can make a pure PvP game. I never saw more than 6-8 people allowed in any game. Thus, Rakion lacks a persistent shared space--just like Exteel, which I mentioned a few weeks back. And like Exteel, I think Rakion is a fun game, but it won't be making this list as it does not qualify as a MMOG in my book. I still encourage gamers to try out both games for some good fragging.

My other conquest for the week was a clean download of Perfect World. I will be covering that next week.

Aside from Rakion and Perfect World, I am still playing several games on the list below. Several of the games I am beta testing have a non-disclosure agreement, which means I can't tell you about them. Sadly, that means there is a game I'd love to put on this list but can't yet. Stay tuned.

The List

Next week, I will bring readers a first impressions review of Perfect World. I'll also start thinking about Wurm Online.

Here are my Top Ten Free-to-Play Games for this week.

Mythos - (www.mythos.com) Flagship Studios, Inc.
Mythos gets one more week from me in this spot. If the overworld isn't released soon for general beta testers, I'm going have trouble finding motivation to log in.

2

2

Mabinogi - (http://mabinogi.nexon.net) NEXON
Mabinogi added in some pets this week for the item mall. I have not spent a penny on the game yet, but I am still able to have a lot of fun with it.

3

Wakfu - (www.wakfu.com) Ankama
Yes, I'm in the Closed Beta of Wakfu. The game is under NDA, though, so I can't comment on Wakfu's progress.

4

4

Rohan: Blood Feud - (www.playrohan.com) YNK Interactive I need a few more levels before I get into the meat of PvP in Rohan. I look forward to it.

5

5

Dream of Mirror Online - (http://domo.aeriagames.com) Aeria Games & Entertainment
Dream of Mirror Online would probably catch on in the West a little better if the art style did not look so cartoony. Most people take one look and decide it's a game for children. They don't know what they are missing.

6

7

Dungeon Runners - (http://www.dungeonrunners.com) NCSoft
Dungeon Runners just introduced the Bling Gnome. Boy, this game has a good sense of humor!

7

10

Warrior Epic - (http://warriorepic.com) Possibility Space
Warrior Epic has one of the most friendly front men I have ever encountered in Brice Lucas. If the Possibility Space crew can maintain his level of customer ineraction after the game launches, it will be a nice bullet point for their marketing team.

8

Magic World Online - (http://mwo.enjoymmo.com) Goldcool Games
Magic World Online launches on June 20, 2008. Players who love a good story would do well to check it out. Fans of eye candy run screaming the other way.

6

Requiem: Bloodymare - (www.playrequiem.com) Gravity Interactive
Requiem started strong for me, but the community is not what I'd hoped for. I find getting a group hard--much less a good group.

9

NeoSteam - (www.neosteam.com) Hanbitsoft
NeoSteam hangs in there in the top ten. I wish it would get a great translation and be reintroduced to English speakers. It can be a lot of fun.
