Exclusive Hero Online Interview, Upcoming Events Discussed

Posted June 25th, 2008 by Cody Bye

Questions by Garrett Fuller, Industry Relations

Answers by Seung-Suk Cho, 3rd Development Department, Hero Online

Free to play MMOGs are everywhere. There’s no denying the fact that many players have accepted and regularly play these free to play games, and the free to play gaming genre is here to stay. One of the first games to be released in North America that fostered the free to play gaming experience was Hero Online, an MMOG that has earned its chops through years of live service. Recently, Ten Ton Hammer’s Garrett Fuller caught up with Hero Online’s Seung-Suk Cho to discuss a number of the upcoming events in Hero Online and what gamers should expect from the future of this game.

Hero Online was one of the first F2P games on the market

Ten Ton Hammer: For those who may not know much about the game, can you give us a brief description of Hero Online?

Cho: Hero Online is a MMORPG based on Chinese martial arts world, and it went live on July 2006. Since then Hero Online has gained the fame for its stable systems and different features such as item hierarchy, item enchantment, item mantling, level design and massive-war features. It’s currently live in seven different countries.

Ten Ton Hammer: Tell us about the Hero Online event you have planned for players?

Cho: They are going to be able to get a ‘lunar dog’s ring’ and ‘scroll of order’ from NPCs. These items will boost all their stats, running speed, and defense points. This will help event participants leveling up a lot faster.

Ten Ton Hammer: Do you have any other plans for players over the summer? What about going into the holiday season?

Cho: We are raising the  level cap (100) this summer so that our veteran players will have three more maps, and hundreds of new items and quests to play with.

Ten Ton Hammer: What type of new content do you release for Hero Online? Are there regular updates, patches, or expansion?

Cho: Basically, we update content for Hero on weekly basis including content for faction wars, cash items and so on.

Ten Ton Hammer: Finally, what is your favorite part about Hero’s upcoming event? What are you looking forward too?

Cho: We are looking forward to seeing the results of the Fan Video Clip event. The prizes for this event are unique items. These are the most worthy items which the most players have been craving for so badly. Anyone, even low level players, can participate since the criteria for the event is to simply have good ideas, story lines, plots, hits and such. Once they get unique items, the winners becomes millionaires in game.
