Season 4 Has Begun

Arena Season / PvP Season

There's been a lot of talk about the newest season and when it started last Tuesday. The long-awaited Season IV for Arena has begun, allowing players to earn even more powerful items to do battle inside Blizzard's Arena PvP system as well as new rewards to contend for throughout normal Battlegrounds.

In this Guide, we will go over the changes that were brought forward in this latest season, starting from the new items you may readily buy from the Arena Vendors, specific requirements for each item, and how the old items were changed to reflect the new season.

Season 2 Weapons match and may surpass current offerings for many players

Player Vs Player (Battlegrounds, Honor) Changes

The most notable change for many players will be the fact that all the Season 2 Arena Gear (Merciless Gladiator) has been moved from Arena Point cost to Honor Point cost, replacing the Season 1 variant of the gear. This means harder-hitting weapons and way better armor are available for players who are dedicated enough to doing enough Battlegrounds and PvP in order to get their Honor Gear up-to-speed.

However, it also added new "off set" items to the fray, aptly named "Guardian's", replacing Season 3's "Vindicator's" set. However, since they're more powerful than the already-magnificent Vindicator items, some require Personal and Arena Ratings depending on which piece you have your eyes on.

The cost for all gear is the same as season 3, weaponry costing up to ~25,000 Honor, mark requirements remain in place as the same, and the Season 4 PvP trinket is worth 40,000 Honor, for those wanting extra resilience.

Rating Requirements

Season 3 Items

The requirement for these items will be lessened, but not gone entirely. Remember, they will also go down in Arena Point price.

Season 3 Weapon Rating: 1800

Season 4 Items

Season 4 Shoulders Rating: 2200

Season 4 Weapon Rating: 2050

Season 4 Headpiece Rating: 1700

Season 4 Chest Rating: 1600

Season 4 Leggings Rating: 1550

Gloves and Off-hand Rating: No Rating Required

Season 4 Honor Gear Items

Requirements will be as follows:

Boots Rating: 1700

Ring Rating: 1650

Bracers Rating: 1575

Belt, Necklace, Trinket Rating: No Rating Required

Arena Changes

The newest, most powerful set for PvPers (Brutal Gladiator) is now available for those who can afford its prices - these items will make your character not only extremely hard to kill in PvP, but they also sport different looks from the dungeon sets this time. Unfortunately, there are not many differences between caster and melee sets aside from the helms, so you may end up looking a lot like your opponents if both are sporting Brutal Gladiator Gear.

Regardless, this latest set of items are about as powerful as the final Hyjal and Black Temple items, so only the best PvPers will be able to wield them with their steep requirements.

Honor Obtaining Tips

Honor grinding can be a really evil thing for many people - not many have the patience to sit there endlessly killing opponents forever while gaining a few points. Below are recommended options for PvP if you have the time or inclination to outfit yourself in full honor gear or are shooting for a lot of Honor Points.

- Play Alterac Valley! In many Battlegroups, Alterac Valley lasts from 10 to 17 minutes, resulting in a fast win or loss, yet yielding 150-450 honor per game. This results in the fastest Honor obtention per game.

- Form a squad of 3 or 4 and go kill the opposite faction in populated areas(PvP Servers) - In PvP servers, killing people who go solo to the Isle of Quel'danas or the Daily Zones can be a good source of Honor, anywhere from 20 to 40 honor per kill depending on the people you bring. While griefing people repeatedly is not advised, obtaining honor this way can be a rest from Battlegrounds

- Avoid Arathi Basin / Eye of the Storm / Warsong Gulch if Soloing, unless you need Marks - these battlegrounds last a long time and are not worth the mark for the quad-mark turn-in. Save the tokens for armor or weapon purchasing unless you're running with a group of 10 or 15 to have a good shot of dominating the competition.

- Join "Premades"! Many people join premades to obtain honor or marks fast via several different methods. Try them out, and hopefully you will obtain lots of honor with coordinated tactics

- Keep an eye out for the PvP Dailies that give honor, like Hellfire, Terokkar and Nagrand's daily quests. Each reward you anywhere from 200 to 400 honor per day and shouldn't be missed if you want honor and some free coin.

Most important of all, have someone to talk to either in-game or in person, the grind for points is a long one, so someone keeping you company while you obtain honor points is a welcome addition!
