About This List
Please refer to the Top Ten Free-to-Play Games Portal to find out how to get a game you make or like on this list.

Week in Review
My game of the week was Wurm Online. This game from OneTooFree AB is a real sandbox game akin to the multi-user dungeons (MUDs) of the previous generation. It runs in Java and actually looks pretty good. The real issue is whether or not today's gamer is willing to work for his game anymore. I mean, are we completely spoiled by quest non-player characters with exclamation points above their heads?

It only took me one night of playing to answer my questions about Wurm Online. I'm too lazy to play a MUD these days--no matter how pretty that MUD is. So, Wurm Online does not make the list. That does not mean it is a bad game. It just doesn't fit my style.

Like a girlfriend I just can't stay mad at, Mythos has reclaimed the number 1 slot on my list. I truly believe the game is good enough to be a pay-to-play game. Luckily, we'll get it for free.

The List

Next week, I will download Cabal Online based on a reader tip.

Here are my Top Ten Free-to-Play Games for the week.

2

Mythos - (www.mythos.com) Flagship Studios, Inc.
Even if the current lag in development has me worried about Mythos, I can't deny that it is the best game on this list.

2

1

Mabinogi - (http://mabinogi.nexon.net) NEXON
I may have hit a wall for what I can do in Mabinogi for free recently. My character ages too fast for me to play casually.

3

4

Rohan: Blood Feud - (www.playrohan.com) YNK Interactive Rohan continues to exist under the radar. It's a great game.

4

3

Wakfu - (www.wakfu.com) Ankama
There are so many things I want to say about Wakfu. I must wait until the non-disclosure agreement is waived.

5

5

Dream of Mirror Online - (http://domo.aeriagames.com) Aeria Games & Entertainment
Dream of Mirror Online really bucks the tradition of games from Asia getting a poor English translation.

6

6

Dungeon Runners - (http://www.dungeonrunners.com) NCSoft
Dungeon Runners is a fun game to jst pick up and play casually. It works better as a single player game than as a MMOG to me.

7

7

Warrior Epic - (http://warriorepic.com) Possibility Space
Warrior Epic has been cranking up the media hype lately. People in the beta are not allowed to talk about it, though.

8

8

Magic World Online - (http://mwo.enjoymmo.com) Goldcool Games
If Magic World Online had teh graphics of any other game on this list, it would be in the top 3.

9

10

Runes of Magic - (www.runesofmagic.com) Frogster
Runes of Magic has the look of a polished game. Here's hoping the translation gets as much attention as the graphics.

10

9

Requiem: Bloodymare - (www.playrequiem.com) Gravity Interactive
Requiem would make an awesome online multiplayer game for PC or any console. As a MMOG, it loses something after 20 levels or so.
