Field of the Dead Quest Guide: Southwest Region

Field of the Dead Quest Guide: Southwest Region

The Field of the Dead is a huge zone that has plenty to do for players level 39 all the way to 50. The impressive stock of enemies to slay and the line up of potential quests makes this zone the perfect zone for character progression.

We are first going to cover the Southwest region of the zone which consists of the Crossroads, Foothills, and Stream Bridge areas. This is where you will first come in from Conall's Valley and likely where you will want to start out if you are seeing this zone for the first time. Playing here before level 38 is not recommended, but you can quickly rise in experience from level 40 to around level 43 just playing in this one section of the Field of the Dead.

You can find more Field of the Dead Quests here in the continuation of this guide.

I try to catch all of the quests that I can find, but I am bound to miss some! If you have quests from Field of the Dead that you don't see here, send me the info and I'll get it added.

Quest Name
Starting NPC
Details
Mini-Map
Reward
A Chieftain's Vengeance
Cul Chieftain
Muss up the Vanir camp by beating on some crates and burning some tents. I suggest going around the outer edges and taking out what you can before smashing through the middle if you are lower than level 40!
Chieftain's Command, The
Cul
Scout out the Gaud Mound for the Chieftain. No need to go all the way inside the camp, you'll get the update from the edge of it.
Cure For Lycanthropy
Jocund
The location of all the items is pretty straight forward. the only part I really had trouble
on was getting to the Cursed Amulet. There were so many of the mobs around that I ended up going up through the water then around
behind the named. I was able to avoid most of the fighting (and repeated deaths) that way.

Curse of the Werewolves, The
Marrock
Kill Conriochts! They have a pretty far aggro range, so hang out around the edges and pull them away from the groups if you're solo.
Den of Wolves
Marrock
Kills plains wolves found off to the northeast.
Finding Safe Passage
Kiara
Scout out the road to Wolves Pass. Once you get across the bridge you'll get an update that
tells you the area isn't safe and needs to be lessoned of the nearby lupine hunters
Fourth Fragment, The
Cul
Travel across Wolves Pass to retrieve the 4th fragment from Brand Hellhammer. This one is a major pain. First, the X on the map isn't quite right. You are looking for the little pit of bones up in that same area but off to the side. Check our minimap for the correct point. With all the mobs around, he's hard to solo, but I grabbed him and pulled him off the platform area and up the road a bit. Some of the adds dropped off and I was able to kill him much easier.
Messenger, The
Bhaltair
This quest takes you to a new questing area. Speak with Cul in The Foothills then return back to Bhaltair. You can just run off the Vanir in the road if you need to on your way there and back.
Morne's Clumsy Hands
Morne
Bandage Croag's wounds. He's like right there. Seriously. Just turn around!
Music of the Night, The
Morne
Kill the wolves found just to the north. This is a good one to do in connection with "Cure For Lycanthropy".
Orders From Kylikki
Dropped Letter
This letter drops from Vanir in the area. Clicking on it starts the quest to retrieve the fragment from Hakkon Wolftamer. This guy is a pain! He fears and teleports away from you, so you'll be leaping all over the place trying to kill him. Pull him to the cliff behind his spawn point and try to keep him back there so you aren't getting tons of adds. Return the fragment to Cul Chieftain.
Poisoned Cup
Bhaltair
Poison the Vanir water. If you are solo on this one, go around behind the boss mob up the cliff and you'll only have to take out 2 or 3 Vanir to get to a barrel.
Rescue of Isobail I, The
Tabbot
Search for Isobail in each of the Clan locations. You do not have to go all the way into the
camps, just close enough to get the camp on to pop up on your screen. I saved some time using the river to get around the mobs and jumping up on land just long enough to get my update.
Rescue of Isobail II, The
Tabbot
Travel to the Lacheish Outpost in search of
Isobail. Speak with Diarmad and learn pretty much nothing.
Second Fragment, The
Cul
After the completion of "Orders From Kylikki", Cul sends you to gather more fragments. This
one comes from Thorain Redfang.
Tabbot and the Scouts
Tabbot
Kill some scouts found just up the hill from Tabbot. These guys kind of hide in 1s and 2s, but are fairly easy to spot if your careful.
Third Fragment, The
Cul
This piece comes from the mob that wonders nearby called Audun Nightstalker. The mob
wonders up and down the roads near the intersection. It works well to clear a spot and wait for Audun to pass by.
Threat of the Vanir, The
Croag
Check out the camp. I just ran in and ran right back out. Careful if you train though, others
in the area might not like that.
Through the Wolves' Pass
Kiara
Head across the pass and to Beacon Outlook and retrieve bandages from Ceana.
To The Victor Go The Spoils
Cul
Head up the road and take whatever it is those silly Vanir are guarding. You'll need to take out the 2 guards next to the chest first because 2 more will spawn once you've taken what's inside of it.
Wagon Wreck
Bhaltair
A scout at the Crossroads tasks you with killing Vanir and destroying their wagon. Getting
the Vanirs is a easy task, they are all over the area. The wagon is in a camp and not only do you need to clear the area, but more vanir will spawn when you attack the wagon.
Warning, The
Cul
Warn Kiara at Stream Bridge and Diarmad at the Outlook of the attacks.
Wolf Dream, The
Marrock
Just run across the bridge and check out the area. Very easy quest, but it leads to more!
Wolves at our Throats
Lachlan
Kill dusk wolves and raging wolverines which are all over this area. The best spot is marked, you have wolves on one side of the bridge and wolverines on the other. You can go back and forth to clear one area, then the other.
