Gotta get in the beta!

Do you absolutely, positively, desperately need to be in the beta for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King? Well, how much money do you have?

At last year's Blizzcon and at the Blizzard WWI the other month, scratch cards were given out for a "to be announced" Blizzard beta. That beta is WotLK, and those little scratch cards are now selling like hotcakes on eBay.

The record price paid on eBay's UK site so far is GBP 513 - that's EUR 652, or an astonishing USD 1,021.

This may have been a one-off, but keys are regularly changing hands for between GBP 150 and GBP 300.

Beta keys obtained in the normal manner, by opting in to the test on the official website, cannot be sold - they're attached to the account of the player who registered.

I don't know. Some people might think it's worth it, but roughly 300-600 dollars to play an unfinished version of a game that will only cost me 50 is a bit steep to me. If it's worth it to you though, you might want to head over to eBay before it's all gone.
