The Escapist takes on The Council of Stellar Management.

As discussed many times EVE Online is in a constant state of change. The developer CCP continues to make improvements by balancing game play and then the community reacts. But unlike any other community in the MMO industry, the EVE Online community has a developer sanctioned voice that is apparently using their voice to make the reactions of the players heard. The sanctioned body is the Council of Stellar Management.

In the latest Escapist Magazine, an online publication, Jordan Deam spells out the current situation of how and why the council was formed and what effects it has had on both the players and CCP.

Is the Council powerful enough to make CCP change design elements they normally wouldn't (tail wagging the dog?) or is CCP merely placating the populace (good doggy!).

I have mixed feelings on the Council which at times seems like a way for CCP to have a short list to invite to it's Fan Fest, and other times appears to really make a difference. Of course with 250,000 constituents and no real charter for operations, it would be a miracle for any real meaningful direction to come from the Council. Can they even agree on whether it is night or day? Or am I reading this all wrong in our forums?
