Ten Ton Hammer's Warhammer Online Guilds of the Month

August's 2nd Guild - Vanguard

So there you are. Just made up your character and he/she looks cool. DAMN cool. You can't wait to get out there and play and level up! Oddly enough though, you start to find that the game gets boring for some reason. You log in and you're all alone, soloing or putting up with cheesy pick up groups just to get into some of the higher end content. You thought there would be more to Warhammer Online than just questing, ganking, and getting loot. This is where guilds come in. Guilds have many functions in MMOG's. They're a way to see higher level content. They're a means to get a chance at gear that you may not have ever seen otherwise. Most importantly, a good guild will become your online family. Full of friends you can't wait to jump online with and tackle the challenges of your game of choice.

We here at Ten Ton Hammer realize the importance of guilds in the world of MMOG's. That's why we're featuring a different Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning guild each month to give you a chance to get to know the different guilds of WAR and possibly help you find a group of like minded folks to make your gaming experience that much better.

For our second guild of the month, we give you a destruction guild that isn't worried about the hardcore or the extreme, but is a bit more laid back in their pursuit of Order's demise, Vanguard!

Ten Ton Hammer: What kind of guild is Vanguard and what are they all about?

Vanguard: We are a guild for those who want more then the "normal" guild experience. We are an in-game family of players for our members to rely on, while at the same time working to promote co-operation between guilds throughout the realm.

We are Mercenaries, willing to help everyone and anyone who needs it, and our players understand that grouping and cooperation are just as important as gear and skill.

Our first focus is to help our members get a great head start. Once a player understands the game, the guild, and is comfortable in their role, we offer help and advice whenever needed, day or night. At any time the guild leaders are willing to help with anything, no matter the tier or complexity.

Once our core members have a working knowledge of the game and things are running smoothly, we will turn our focus out-word, answering virtually any call for help. Our members will be rewarded by participating in this mercenary work, both through social reputation and in-guild bonuses.

The ultimate goal of Vanguard comes when players start reaching the level cap. We will adopt the true Mercenary persona, renting out our services to larger guilds, aiding them in dungeons, PQ's, Sieges, and more.

Ten Ton Hammer: What other games have you been involved in and what sort of success have you seen in those games? What are the goals of (your guild name) in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

Vanguard: We are a brand-new guild specifically made for Warhammer. Our leadership has guild leadership experience that spans over multiple MMO's, from City of Heroes and SWG to WoW and LotRO. We also look for players with prior mmo experience, to help with the transition to this new environment and style of play.

Our goal is to be the guild to look to when you need help, and to make Vanguard be the most respected guild on the server.

We want to be at the forefront of the guild revolution, and aid our server in Uniting the Destruction guilds against Order.

Ten Ton Hammer: What sort of time commitment are you looking for from members per week? Are there level requirements or restrictions for members?

Vanguard: MMO's are supposed to be hobbies, not a lifestyle or a job. So we only expect a member to be two or three times a week. Those who choose to help with the mercenary work, we ask that they be on once every other day. Officers are expected to devote a little more time, as well as being available for any guild function or officer meetings.

Ten Ton Hammer: What level of importance do you place on the social aspect of your guild? Is (your guild here) all about the end goal or more about the people involved?

Vanguard: The social aspect of Vanguard is critical to our success. Within our guild, we are creating a close knit group of players that work exceptionally well with each other, both as players and as friends. This social aspect will carry over into our interaction with the community as a whole.

Part of this is finding players who are, at times, willing to put other players before their own personal goals. This is not to say we don't encourage people gearing themselves, we just believe it is more important to be a productive member of the Realm instead of a fully-geared nobody.

Ten Ton Hammer: If someone wanted to join your guild, what would be the best way to do so? Who should they get in contact with? Do they need to be a part of the Warhammer Online Beta test to apply or can they apply prior to release?

Vanguard: Joining the Vanguard is simple! Apply at http://www.vanguard-mercs.net by registering and filling out an application on our forums. There is no need to be in open or closed beta, or to have the collectors edition pre-order.

Currently we are also seeking 6 officers! If you are interested in an officer position, please note so on your application.
