High Elf Public Quests - Chapter 2

chaos pq chapter 1 High Elf Public Quests: Chapter 2

Kyrinn traced a finger across a cloth map as the other High Elves looked on.

"The Baeridhon flows south to join the Swale of Miralei here. To the west, there is the Forlorn Isle, and to the south, Lacorith. The Shadow Warriors have seen small bands of Dark Elves in all of these places, and they appear to be searching for something. Until now, we did not know what."

The other champions and captains nodded in agreement. The Dark Elves' invasion strategy had been unusual. They had attacked and engaged the Shining Guard on the beaches near Narthain, to the north. The had the Shining Guard outnumbered and might have defeated them, but instead the Dark Elves broke off and raced southward.

"Now, behold as I illumuinate the ley lines that pass beneath the land." The Mage held her hands above the map and whispered an incantation. The surface of the map rippled like water, and several thin lines, all glowing pale blue, materialized. The lines passed from north to south, drawing closer toward the southern edge of the map. To make her point more clear, the Magess indicated three of the lines.

"The pass beneath Lacorith, the Swale, and the Forlorn Isle. My companions, I do not think the Dark Elves are searching for something. Rather, I believe they are following the ley lines southward."

"But to what end?" asked Champion Sarnuil.

Mage Kyrinn bowed her head. "That is what we must learn. I do not know what our enemies intend, but no good can come of it. We must find and confront our dark kin and learn their plans. Only then can we ensure those plans do not come to fruition."

One by one, the High Elf leaders saluted the Magess and exited her command tent. She followed the last of them out into the cool night air. The Chaos Moon waxed full, bathing the ruins of the ancient village of Adunei in an unnatural, greenish opalescence. The sight made Magess Kyrinn feel uneasy. This was an ill omen, she knew.

In her heart, she sensed that black times lay ahead for her people, and that whatever the Dark Elves were up to would play some part in it.

CHAPTER 2: An Ill Omen

The Forlorn Isle

Location: The Blighted Isle, West of Adunei.

Rally Master: Kyrinn Silversea at Adunei, main plaza

Influence Rewards:
-Basic: Health, Action Points, Heal over Time or Damage Absorbing Potions
-Advanced: White boots or gloves.
-Elite: Green weapon or chestpiece.

Stage I: Slay 45 Corrupted Dryads. The small island is absolutely littered with these guys, simply kill 45 of them to move the Public Quest to the next stage. One side note, for those afraid of an empty PQ, each kill of these guys solo gives you 100 Influence points, so sometimes running a PQ solo can be beneficial.

Stage II: Release 4 Sacred Stones - 10 Minutes. Each one of these stones can be release by simply right-clicking on them. They are sitting in the middle of groups of 3 large corrupted treekin. This one will need at least two people to complete, because 1 out of every 3 treekin are CHAMPION mobs. Not exactly difficult, but very trying for a solo player as they come to life within moments of each other. All 4 stones are somewhat evenly spaced along the the center of the isle and are denoted by the rather large heaving treekin clustered around them..

Stage III: Slay Kharvena the Corrupter, Rank 4 HERO Sorceress - 10 Minutes. Once you've release the stones and killed the corrupted treekin, the Dark Elf woman responsible will be a bit peeved that you've interfered. Be wary of a hefty knockback ability she posesses, which doesn't exactly have a signal for going off. Best bet? Stay back from her if you're of the squishier variety. A solid group of 3 or 4 (including a tank and a healer) can take her down, but doing so in higher numbers will make it less hectic.

Loot Drops: Special items are dependent on the type of loot bag that is won, and your class. Every loot bag contains the tradeskill items and coins.
  • Lesser Loot Bag - Green Rank 4 or 5 Weapons
  • White Loot Bag - White Rank 5 Boots
  • Thick Glass Vial: Apothecary
  • Sallow Gall : Cultivation
  • Clean Tin Watering Can: Cultivation
  • Withered Peat : Cultivation
  • Coins

Swale of Miralei

Location: The Blighted Isle, South of Adunei.

Rally Master: Kyrinn Silversea at Adunei, main plaza

Influence Rewards:
-Basic: Health, Action Points, Heal over Time or Damage Absorbing Potions
-Advanced: White boots or gloves.
-Elite: Green weapon or chestpiece.

Stage I: Slay 45 70 Harpies and Cold Ones. Similar to most PQs, the area designated for the Swale of Miralei is littered with thes mobs. The respawn rate is swift and viscious, so be on guard for them popping all around you. Just keep knocking them down until you've met the required 70.

Stage II: Slay 4 Beastmasters and Protect the 3 Archmages - 10 Minutes. This one's a bit rough the first time through if the PQ is underpopulated. First, from the east a Harpy Beastmaster will come packing a few Harpies as backup. The object is to take him out, while making sure the Archmages are protected. So be sure to grab those lesser mobs when you head to take out the Champion Beastmaster. Once your whole party is on him, keep an aware of further Harpy summons. If you engage him quick and don't let the Harpies get near the Archmages, you'll be fine. They Beastmasters are not hard to bring down.

When you've defeated the Harpy Beastmaster, a Cold One Beastmaster will spawn just a bit south of where the previous Beastmaster did. Repeat the previous tactics, and you'll not have an issue. Following the Cold One swarm, to the south and up the small hill against the mountain side, a Lion Beastmaste will spawn. Rinse and repeat again here. Finally, the 4th Beastmaster will spawn back by the Archmages, and across the water. This one's all about Spiders, but can be taken down using the same tank and spank strategy. Not hard at all, unless you're under-manned.

Stage III: Slay Beastlord Revarok, Rank 6 HERO - 10 Minutes. Killing all the Beastmasters in the area, will anger their leader, Beastlord Revarok, and he'll come riding in on a Cold One aiming to take you all out. This is a simple step too, really. Sick your tanks on him, keep them alive, and wither away his health. The only issues you'll have is if you don't have healers or any tanks.

Loot Drops: Special items are dependent on the type of loot bag that is won, and your class. Every loot bag contains the tradeskill items and coins.
  • Major Loot Bag - Purple Chestpiece
  • Lesser Loot Bag - Green Rank 5 Boots
  • White Loot Bag - White Rank 5 Boots, or White Accesory item
  • Thick Glass Vial: Apothecary
  • Sallow Gall : Cultivation
  • Clean Tin Watering Can: Cultivation
  • Withered Peat : Cultivation
  • Coins

Thanalorn Forest

Location: The Blighted Isle, North-West of Adunei.

Rally Master: Kyrinn Silversea at Adunei, main plaza

Influence Rewards:
-Basic: Health, Action Points, Heal over Time or Damage Absorbing Potions
-Advanced: White boots or gloves.
-Elite: Green weapons or chestpiece.

Stage I: Slay 100 Uthorin Soldiers. Like the first step of any PQ, this one's all about killing the regular mobs. There are dark elves littered across the forest, surrounding campfires, and hacking away at trees. Your mission? Take them out hard.

Stage II: Free 8 Crippled Dryads - 10 Minutes. The Dryads you need are relatively easy to spot. They look not unlike the corrupted ones from the Forlorn Isle PQ, only they're chained to the ground and have 2 Champion level Dark Elves protecting them. The best strategy for small groups is to pull 1 at a time, but if you're 5 or more strong, simply storming the 2 Champion mobs will be fine. Once you've killed the Dark Elves, you can free each Dryad by right clicking the shackles that bind them to the ground.

Stage III: Slay Felgrith the Arsonist, Rank 8 HERO and Protect 8 trees from being burned - 10 Minutes. This final step is a little trickier than the previous PQs in Chapter 2. You must slay the Rank 8 Hero mob before 8 of his little buddies get to the trees and set them on fire, as well as before 10 minutes are up. If you're in a large party of say 6 or more I wouldn't worry too much about the trees being burned. You'll wipe out the Arsonist long before all 8 trees are burned and long before the 10 minutes are up.

However, if you're in a small group and you don't want to risk failing this PQ I'd suggest that you have one person tank the Hero mob, with a healer keeping him alive, while others work DPS and keep their eyes open for the Firecallers that walk along the forest floor with torches held high. These are the guys you need to take out before they reach the trees. If you can knock out 1 or 2 of them, then I'd say you're safe to focus fire on the Hero mob and complete the PQ. He's very simple in terms of strategy. Tank and spank once again.

Loot Drops: Special items are dependent on the type of loot bag that is won, and your class. Every loot bag contains the tradeskill items and coins.
  • Massive Loot Bag - Purple Boots, Green Weapon, Blue Weapon
  • Lesser Loot Bag - Green Ring, White Belt
  • White Loot Bag - White Belt
  • Thick Glass Vial: Apothecary
  • Sallow Gall : Cultivation
  • Clean Tin Watering Can: Cultivation
  • Withered Peat : Cultivation
  • Coins
